            Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today granted audience to the members of Lakshya Children’s Club, Karek, Namthang, South Sikkim at Raj Bhavan.

The first of its kind children’s  club established on 27th May 2018, has its members of eight to eighteen years age group and  are mostly school children. The club’s intends to groom leadership through community awareness among school children, inculcate moral values, promote sports and healthy leaving habits and provide platform to the opinion of children towards building better society and nation.

The President of the club Master Deepen Rai and General Secretary Ms Shreya Rai provided a brief account on the main aims and initiatives taken over the last one year. Interestingly, the club so far, has been able to organise World No Tobacco Day, Environment Day in 2018 and 2019, plantation drives, Bhanu Jayanti Celebration, Under 18 Football Tournament, bamboo fencing in school, besides numerous cleanliness drives during weekend holidays and vacations.

Hon’ble Governor while blessing the children for their future endeavours, expressed his pleasure in knowing several commendable initiatives taken by such young children in their village. Hon’ble Governor  also stated that the collective effort of young children will go a long way in bringing behavioural change among adults and can inspire other village to emulate the example.  He urged the children to remain consistent in their effort to serve society for better tomorrow.
