                                                                                 CONDOLENCE  MESSAGE

Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad has expressed deep sadness and grief on the demise of Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Former Union Minister for External Affairs at AIIMS, New Delhi on 6th August 2019.

In his condolence message, Hon’ble Governor wrote;

“I am deeply shocked  and saddened by the news of sudden demise of  Smt Sushma Swaraj, Former Union Minister for External Affairs and Chief Minister of Delhi following a cardiac arrest at AIIMS, New Delhi, late evening on 6th August 2019.

Late Sushma Swaraj rose to the fame in  political spectrum of the country as a prolific orator and an amiable personality among the ranks of Bharatiya Janata Party and elevated herself to one of the most respected second generation frontline leader from late 80s. She served in various capacities as Union Minister firstly under  Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government and the Shri Narendra Modi Government with distinction until May 2019. An outstanding parliamentarian, able  administrator and  people’s leader with a humane  heart, Late Sushma Swaraj will be remembered for her distinguished service as External Affairs Minister who carried the aspiration of 1.3 billion Indians and  re-established India’s honour and glory among the comity of nation at global stage. Her sensitivity, dedication and  success she achieved in rescuing distressed Indians in the Middle East alongside other nationals will be remembered for eternity.

I have  had  close association with Late Sushma Ji and worked together in various social initiatives. I have fond memories of her amiable and sociable personality.

I had a telephonic conversation with her as recently as in July 2019 where she had invited me to her residence for a meeting at any convenient date. I consider this as personal loss as much to the country.

With her demise, the country has lost an exemplary leader and  a nationalist in true sense, who always worked for the larger interest of the masses. She has left a huge void in the contemporary political spectrum of the country which will be difficult to  fill up for generations to come.

 At this time of bereavement, I join the people of Sikkim and my fellow countrymen to offer my deepest condolences. I pray to the almighty for bestowing strength to her family members to cope with this irreparable loss.”
