MESSAGE

On the auspicious occasion of Guru Rimpoche’s Thrunkar Tshechu,  Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad has extended warm greetings to the people of Sikkim.

Hon’ble Governor in his message has said, “Guru Rimpoche’s  Thrunkar Tshechu is the pious occasion for all of us to come together to celebrate birthday of Guru Padmasambhava, reverentially worshipped  as ‘Guru Rimpoche’ in Sikkim. The occasion is more special for all our Sikkimese brethren since we all revere Guru Rimpoche as our guardian saint.

Guru  Rimpoche is regarded as the most prominent among the galaxy of Buddhist monks, Arahats and Rimpoches,  and known as lotus born who transmitted tantric Buddhism in Sikkim, Bhutan and Tibet in the 8th Century A.D. His patronage to Sikkim is highly regarded as he is known to have blessed this land as ‘Bayul Dremojong’ (hidden valley of rice). It was his blessings that transformed Sikkim into predominantly a Buddhist land. Guru Padmasambhava is not only venerated by Buddhists but also held in high regards by the Sikkimese across all faiths.

On this propitious day, let us all pray for the compassion and well being of sentient beings. May the blessings and teachings of Guru Rimpoche continue to enlighten our life and society till eternity.”
