PRESS RELEASE

          Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad   unfurled the Tri-color at the lawns of New Raj Bhavan in a formal ceremony in the morning on the occasion of 73rd   Independence Day. Officers, Staff and their family members, ITBP Officers and Jawans, teachers and students of St. Thomas School Gangtok and local gentries in large number were present on the occasion.

        Following the hoisting of National Flag and National Anthem sung by   school children, a special patriotic cultural  presentation was made by students of St Thomas School, Gangtok. At the end of the programme, Hon’ble Governor distributed sweets to students, ITBP Jawans, Sikkim Police, Indian Army and  all the participants of Independence Day function. 

      Later, on the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan, three separate group namely, Tibetan Women’s Association, Gangtok, Dattatreya Math, Sikkim and Sisters from Brahmakumaris, Gangtok called on Hon’ble Governor and put Rakhi on him.

Hon’ble Governor expressed gratitude to the members of the group and called for keeping the tradition of Rakshabandhan alive which symbolises our  commitment to protect mothers, sisters and all womenfolk alongside our motherland.
