MESSAGE

On the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja (Dussera), Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad has extended warm greetings to the people of Sikkim.

Hon’ble Governor has said, “In Sikkim, we celebrate the festival as Dasain  or Vijayadasami which has evolved into festival of mass with cultural significance.  The age-old tradition of visiting the elders to seek their blessings on the occasion has inherent meaning in the Indian family system.

The occasion always brings with it the hope and aspiration for better tomorrow with blessings of Divine Mother. The belief that good always prevails over evil has been the guiding principle for all our collective endeavours since ages and the festival of Durga Puja epitomizes this belief. The ten days of veneration and worship of Goddess Durga in her varied forms as the bestower of all our strength and courage reflects Indian philosophy and value where mothers and sisters are given the highest regard in the social hierarchy.

Let this be the occasion to pray together for health, happiness and prosperity to all. May Divine Mother   bless our society with   eternal love, harmony and  peace.”
