Honorable Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today convened the Third Review Meeting with the State Government Raj Bhavan to assess the preparedness of Sikkim following the second phase of nationwide lockdown against the spread of global pandemic COVID 19. Honorable Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Secretary Shri S.C Gupta, Addl. Chief Secretary to Governor Dr. K Jayakumar, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department Shri K. Sreenivasulu and other officers were present on the occasion.

The meeting began with the formal appraisal that Sikkim today stands as the only State in the Country with Zero Corona positive case as on16th April 2020 with a total of 75 test samples found negative. Honorable Chief Minister stated that all possible measures and restrictions are in place and the second phase of lockdown in the State is being implemented effectively. He informed that Resident Commissioner, Sikkim House New Delhi is coordinating the logistics required from outside  for the State. Honorable Chief Minister further said that as a one time financial relief, a sum of Rs. 30,000/- (Rupees Thirty Thousand) only will be provided to all patients of Sikkim who are stranded outside the State due to lock down. For effective implementation of the lockdown measures, the passes issued to vehicles by different authorities during  the first phase of lockdown are being reviewed and restricted to minimum, Honorable Chief Minister added.

Chief Secretary informed that the State Government is issuing  detailed guidelines to be implemented in the State after 20th April 2020 shortly.

Honorable Governor enquired about the relief packages, financial assistances and distribution of essential commodities and their  availability to which Honorable Chief Minister apprised that there is no shortage of essential commodities in the State. He further said that  for the second round of distribution of relief materials, a revised beneficiary list has been made ready including all eligible families and individuals not covered in the earlier list.

Honorable Governor, in presence of Honorable Chief Minister, also launched a dedicated website for COVID 19 in the State prepared by National Informatics Centre Gangtokin collaboration with State’s Health Department. The website with the features of self-registration and self-reporting can collect data on the travel history of individual which can be used for tracking and tracing of prospective patients in the State. The website can be accessed at  covid-19 sikkim.org and sikkim.nic.in.

 It  is expected to  provide the basis for  proactive action from the Health Department with data evidence of the individuals. The meeting was also informed about the Rapid Testing  Kit being procured by the State Health Department to fast track the testing  at the border entry points and other vulnerable locations. This is felt necessary for preventing any eventuality of COVID 19 cases entering the State.

Honorable Governor on the occasion, also handed over the intimation of MahashayDharmpal, Chairperson MDH Group to Honorable Chief Minister, wherein he has  donated Rs. 11,00000/-(Eleven Lakhs) only  to Chief Minister Relief Fund.
