MESSAGE

On the auspicious occasion of ‘Indrajatra’, the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad extends warm greetings to the people of Sikkim.

          Hon’ble Governor said, “the festival of Indrajatra, usually associated with the Newar community of Nepali origin, is celebrated in the honour of deity Indra, the king of heaven as per Hindu mythology. The celebration is marked by masked dances, cultural showcases, cuisine, religious procession with traditional attire of the community and is participated by Hindus and Buddhists in equal terms.  Indrajatra festival has added another dimension to the cultural diversity of Sikkim and has enriched the Sikkimese identity.

      May this festival be the occasion to celebrate our unique cultural identity and at the same time motivate us to work in unison to further foster peace, harmony and brotherhood prevailing in the State in the days to come.”
