Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. M. K. Sharma accompanied by Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department Shri K. Sreenivasulu and other officials today called on Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad at Raj Bhavan. Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor Shri S.D. Negi was also present on the occasion.

It was a courtesy call by the Hon’ble Minister and his departmental team to apprise the Hon’ble Governor on the recent developments following the detection of few COVID 19 positive cases in Sikkim and the operationalisation of VRDL at STNM Hospital.

Minister Health informed that the department has put in a  strong and efficient mechanism to stop any possibility of outbreak of COVID 19 in the State and  is fully prepared for the cases detected  from among the Sikkimese being brought back  at present. He further provided the detailed information on how people being brought from outside are being monitored at the individual level during the process of facility quarantine, testing, home quarantine and eventual release to normal life. He also mentioned  about the performance and testing capability of VRDL at STNM, inaugurated recently which has given edge to the State’s preparedness in its fight against  the COVID 19 pandemic.

Hon’ble Governor expressed his pleasure on the state of preparedness and the strategy that Sikkim has adopted in its battle against the pandemic. He further acknowledged the dedication and service of all frontline warriors for  ensuring that Sikkim remains the safest place at this hour of crisis.
