On the happy occasion of International Day of Yoga, Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad has extended warm greetings and good wishes to the people of Sikkim.

Hon’ble Governor said, “Yoga, our glorious tradition towards attainment of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing,  is the most valuable  gift to the world from our rich ancient heritage.  Yoga signifies unity of mind and body, thought and action, restraint and fulfilment and establishes  harmony between man and nature. Yoga is that Journey which takes you to your real Self, to your Soul, through your own Self.

Yoga has the power to embrace the humankind in the true spirit “VasudhaivaKutumbakam”  in our collective pursuit of establishing peace, harmony and brotherhood. The global community todayhas accepted Yoga as the most pragmatic  medium towards a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Billions of people the world over have incorporated  Yoga as a part of  life.

The world today is grappling with deadly COVID 19 which has shaken our conscience and has compelled us to change our lifestyle like never before. In this critical time, Yoga gives us the opportunity to revisit our goals and theme of this year’s celebration “Yoga at Home, Yoga with Family” provides us the  right orientation towards this goal. As we move away from the traditional way of celebrating Yoga Day with huge congregation and fanfare due to emerging public health scenario, it presents  us the way towards realisation of self in the hindsight.

International Day of Yoga  presents the  occasion for all organizations devoted to the promotion of Yoga to come forward and spread the message about the rewards of regular practice of yoga. Yoga professionals can play an important role in making the occasion  an effective national movement for health and wellness. The time has also come to make extensive use of  yoga as therapeutic alternative towards rebuilding  immune system as the foundation of our physical and mental health.

Let us all rethink  our approach towards Yoga and incorporate it in our daily health routine simultaneously  reaching out to the people in a bid to  induct them into the blissful world of yoga.”
