Gangtok, September 8 (Raj Bhavan): The Governor, Shri Ganga Prasad gave his valuable suggestions for effective implementation of new National Education Policy in Transforming Higher Education across the Country. The Governor stated that Sikkim is ready to implement the New Education Policy-2020 and this policy will certainly play a pivotal role in Sikkim future growth and nation as well.

The Honorable Governor was speaking at Governors Video Conference on Role of NEP-2020 in Transforming Higher Education which was graced by President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi and attended by Union Minister for Education, Shri Romesh Pokhriyal, Governors/Lieutenant Governors, Education Ministers of States, Chairman, Committee for Drafting New Education Policy, Vice Chancellors and the officers of the States held on Monday (September 7).


The Governor congratulated the Honorable Prime Minister for bringing the new National Education Policy, which replaced the 34-year-old National Education Policy. He also sought centre government assistance for infrastructure development in the education sector.

The Additional Chief Secretary, Education department, G. P Upadhayaya, Vice-Chancellors of Sikkim Central University and Sikkim Manipal University, Additional Secretary, Raj Bhavan, B. K Lama and other officials were also present during the conference.
