MESSAGE

On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Ganga Prasad extends warm greetings to the people of Sikkim.

In his message the Hon’ble Governor has said, “ joining the worldwide celebration of  birth anniversary of one of the greatest legend of non-violence and truth in the modern times,  let us pay rich  tributes  to our beloved  Bapu.

As the world celebrates  International Day of Non Violence as a mark of respect and reverence to this great soul  and son of Mother India,  it is high time  we seriously   reflect on the ideals Gandhiji propagated  for the peaceful co existence  of entire mankind. The  world today need Gandhiji’s ideals  more than ever before as we are witnessing global turmoil, uncertainty, misery and  violence posing threat to very existence of mankind. Gandhiji’s teachings of living with simplicity holding high ideals is the treasure for life  and if propagated  in its right spirit can solve many complexities and  problems that we are facing today.

The country has vowed to dedicate Swachh Bharat  on his 150th Birth Anniversary. We are geared up to ensure Swachhata and Sanitation in the country as the real tribute to our Bapu and have been participating in extensive campaign ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ since last fortnight.

Let us all know that cleaning our conscience, thoughts and behaviour  and making Swachhta  our way of living  is the first step towards the accomplishment of the  goal of Swachh Bharat. Sikkimese   society has   always exemplified Swachhta  as the way of living and we must keep up this momentum.

Let us endeavour to live life as   shown  by Bapu,  giving less   emphasis on material possessions and more on richness of thoughts and actions.”
