On the auspicious occasion of Deepawali and Chhath Puja, Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad extends heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim.

Hon’ble Governor has said, “the festival of Diwali is symbolic to hope of better, brighter and prosperous tomorrow. It is a synonym to the annual moment of joy for all of us to celebrate with friends, family and well-wishers sharing goodwill, compassion and mutual respect. The lighting of lamps has deeper symbolism and philosophy in our culture and signifies the act of dispelling darkness from our lives.

Hon’ble Governor has said, “Chhath Puja, one of the ancient festival dedicated to ‘Surya’, the Sun God,  reflects our deeper understanding of mother nature.  The worship of Surya, the Sun God as the ultimate source of energy for all life forms on Earth, epitomizes our rich tradition of maintaining harmony and balance among all natural forces.

May this auspicious festivals be an occasion to foster brotherhood and harmony amongst different communities of Sikkim.  Let this occasion further strengthen Sikkimese tradition of celebrating festivals and rituals free of pollution and environmental hazards and spread peace, prosperity and  happiness in the lives of my fellow Sikkimese.”
