        Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim  Shri Ganga Prasad today granted  audience to a group of 50 youths from Delhi under Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat -Inter State Youth Exchange Program at New Raj Bhavan. The exchange program between the twin states Delhi and Sikkim from 1st to 15th November 2018 is being conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Sikkim Unit. Aditional Chief Secretary to Hon’ble Governor Dr. K Jayakumar, NYKS State Director Nabin Kumar Naik, District Youth Coordinators of NYKS Sikkim and other officials were present on the occasion.

It may be mentioned that  the group, in the last fortnight have travelled across the state and have organised various events and special cultural shows. A brief highlight of the exchange program was provided by NYKS State Director Nabin Kumar Naik in his address. The group also presented a colourful cultural programme in  honour of  the Hon’ble Governor.

Hon’ble Governor while addressing the participating youths lauded the efforts of NYKS Sikkim for successful conduct of the exchange program. Hon’ble Governor  urged the youths to use their learning from Sikkim such as cleanliness, pollution control, environmental conservation towards improving overall health of the State of Delhi. 

He also asked the youths to understand the duties and responsibilities of citizen in a democratic society. Stating that balancing rights and duties will help us to be real citizens of this country, Hon’ble Governor underlined the need to learn and assimilate  the diversity, culture, history, geography of our country to inculcate the national character from within. This is foundation towards making Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, Hon’ble Governor stated. Hon’ble Governor also urged the youth to be ready to shoulder the responsibility of transforming the country into New India. He further called upon the youth to remember how Late Sardar Patel had worked towards integrating 562 princely states into  Ek Bharat and seriously think  how we can transform our country into Shrestha Bharat.  

Earlier in the programme, Hon’ble Governor handed over the certificates of participation and appreciation to various organisations and individual  acknowledging their contribution to make the exchange programme a success.
