Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad today Flagged In a mountain  expedition  team of 19 NCC Girls cadets at Raj Bhavan. The expedition team was led by Lt. Col. Madhav Boro (team leader) and Lt. Col. Suman Lata (Dy. team leader). The team also had presence of Everester from Sikkim Shri Kunzang Gyatso, Assistant Director, Sports and Youth Affairs as technical advisor.

It may be mentioned that the all  girls expedition team of NCC had scaled Mt. Tinchenkhang 6010 in North Sikkim braving hostile weather on 11th June 2019 after acclimatising in Sikkim for a month. Though the expedition of all Girls NCC cadets was launched in 1970, this was the first time that Sikkim was chosen as a destination of expedition.

Lt. Colonel Boro apprised the Hon’ble Governor about the technical aspects of the expedition.

Hon’ble Governor congratulated the entire team for the accomplishment and extended best wishes for their future endeavours. Addressing the  girl cadets, who were mostly college students, Hon’ble Governor urged them to keep working hard to build on their potential and fulfil the expectation and aspirations of parents, society and the nation. He stressed that there is no substitute of hard work and asked them to learn from the life and struggles of great personalities.

 Earlier on the day, Hon’ble Governor released a compendium of Yoga Asanas  in Nepali language with the title “Yog Ke Ho” , compiled by Shri Narbahadur Thapa, a senior yoga enthusiast and an instructor  from  Hee Gaon, West Sikkim.

Hon’ble Governor lauded the initiative of Shri Thapa to popularise yoga among the common mass with vernacular compendium. He also extended best wishes for his good health and continued dedication to Yoga in the interest of society at large.
