Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Shriniwas Patil today attended 56th Vegetable, Fruit and Flower Show at Mahim, Mumbai. The show was organised by National Society of the Friends of the Trees at D.G Ruparel College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Mahim, Mumbai.
The two days mega show which started on 11th February 2017 had exhibits from across the country in a competitive format and had a special participation from Sikkim. Sikkim exhibited impressive varieties of cut and live Cymbedium Orchids, processed organic products from ginger, turmeric, tea etc. With special focus on brand Sikkim Organic.
Speaking at the valedictory function as Chief Guest, Hon’ble Governor highlighted Sikkim’s march towards sustainable agricultural practices through successful and complete organic transformation of the State. He stated that Sikkim has taken the lead in the country towards cleaner, greener and healthier environment. The organic status has been the mainstay of the vision where greater harmony is achieved between nature and developmental needs.
Hon’ble Governor also urged the entrepreneurs to invest in Sikkim specially in the sector of organic food processing, ensuring greater dividends to both entrepreneurs and producers.
