Nehru Yuva Kendra

Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Shriniwas Patil today granted audience to a group of 42 National Youth Volunteers and four trainers from Nehru Yuva Kendra, Gangtok at Ashirvad Bhavan. The group was led by Shri Nabin Naik, State Director, NYKS Sikkim.


The youths were in Gangtok for 15 days National Youth Volunteers Induction Training Programme organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Sikkim from 22nd August 2017.


In a brief function, the youth participants presented a short cultural presentation and shared their experience of the training.


Hon’ble Governor while addressing the participating volunteers lauded the initiative of the NYKS Sikkim to impart leadership training to the youths from different parts of the State. Hon’ble Governor urged the volunteers to use their learning in productive work and set the example in society. He also asked the volunteers to understand the duties and responsibilities of citizen in a democratic society. Stating that balancing rights and duties will help us to be real citizens of this country, Hon’ble Governor urged the volunteers to study the diversity, culture, history, geography of our country to inculcate the national character from within. Hon’ble Governor specifically urged the volunteers to take up Sakshar Bharat Mission as their own mission in their respective villages to achieve the target of 100 percent Literate State status in next one year.
