Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Shriniwas Patil and the First Lady today granted audience to a team of six members from National Association for Blind, Sikkim at Raj Bhavan. The group was led by Smt. Geeta Gurung, General Secretary of the association.


It was the occasion of National Association for the Blind’s Flag Day being observed from 14th to 18th September 2017 across the country. The association executives submitted detailed report to Hon’ble Governor underlining various initiatives and activities being undertaken aimed at empowering visually challenged brothers and sisters in the State.


During interaction with the members of the association, Hon’ble Governor enquired about the condition of children enrolled in Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Institute for the Blind Namchi and asked about their welfare and resources being mobilised by the association.


Hon’ble Governor on the occasion of Flag Day, has also appealed to the Sikkimese society from all section and age group to come forward voluntarily towards bringing change in the lives of these differently abled brothers and sisters in whatever possible way and upon one’s capacity. Stating that charity should be the integral part of life of every responsible citizen and sensible human being, Hon’ble Governor has urged all to imbibe charity and empathy as value in our life and share difficulties and sufferings of our fellow beings.


The members of the association also put Flag Day Sticker to Hon’ble Governor, First Lady, Officers and staff of Raj Bhavan on the occasion.
