SKM/GOV/PRO/2017/93 13th November, 2017

On the occasion of Children’s Day, Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Shriniwas Patil and the First Lady Smt. Rajanidevi Patil extend heartiest greetings to the children of Sikkim.

Hon’ble Governor said, “Pandit Nehru’s birth anniversary reminds us of the legacy and deeds of First Prime Minister of Independent India, fondly called Chacha Nehru, towards building modern India. Children always occupied the centre of Pandit Nehru’s vision for future as he always visualised the future of India in children. His love and concern for the children always got reflected in his government’s planning and policies. His priority in building temples of learning and universalization of elementary education was aimed at ensuring an educated and enlightened citizenry, which he perceived as the foundation of modern India.

As we join the nation to pay rich tributes to our beloved ‘Chacha Nehru’,I urge the children to gear up for the greater challenges that lie ahead. sOur future citizens must be able to shoulder the responsibility of fulfilling the vision of our founding fathers of democracy. In order to fulfil the expectations and aspiration of 1.3 billion Indians, my young friends must take lead in transforming our country as true global leader of 21st Century, which we call New India.

Dear young friends! Remain focussed on your task at hand. Study well and inculcate the habit of cleanliness, hygiene and healthy living.”

PRO to Governor
