Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, met Rural Women Entrepreneurs from Rajasthan’s Ghummar Women Producers Company Limited

The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, met and interacted with a group of rural women entrepreneurs from the Ghummar Women Producers Company Limited (GWPC) of Bhimana under Pali district, Rajasthan today. These rural women are playing a pivotal role in empowering tribal communities of the region through their innovative and sustainable work in forest-based enterprises.

During the meeting, the Hon’ble Governor engaged in a meaningful conversation with the women of GWPC and commended their efforts in promoting women’s empowerment, sustainable livelihood generation, and forest resource conservation. These enterprising women, through their collective initiatives, gather Non-Timber Forest Products (NTFPs) such as custard apple and jamun, transforming them into high-value products like ice cream and other health-beneficial items, thereby contributing significantly to the local economy.

The Hon’ble Governor praised women-run enterprises as exemplary models for society, highlighting that their initiative serves as an inspiration for socio-economic transformation. He also drew attention to similar ventures in Sikkim, where rural women, through self-help groups, are contributing in the developmental journey of the State.

GWPC’s innovative approach not only generates stable income opportunities but also aids in the conservation of forest resources. The Hon’ble Governor emphasized the importance of adopting similar successful models in Sikkim to empower local women and promote sustainable livelihoods. Further, he stressed that the government should lend support to the private sector and non-governmental organizations to ensure that women entrepreneurship receive the recognition and support they deserve for sustainable path for progress.
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल, श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर, ने आज राजस्थान के पाली जिले के भिमाना में स्थित घुम्मर महिला उत्पादक कंपनी लिमिटेड (जीएमपीसी) में ग्रामीण महिला उद्यमियों के एक समूह से मुलाकात की। ये महिलाएं वन आधारित उद्यमों में अपने नवोन्मेषी और सतत कार्य के माध्यम से जनजातीय समुदायों को सशक्त बनाने में अग्रणी भूमिका निभा रही हैं।

इस दौरान राज्यपाल महोदय ने जीएमपीसी की महिलाओं से संवाद करते हुए, उनके द्वारा किए जा रहे प्रयासों की सराहना की जो महिलाओं सशक्तिकरण, आजीविका सृजन और वन संसाधनों के संरक्षण में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभा रही हैं। ये ग्रामीण महिलाओं अपने सामूहिक प्रयासों के माध्यम से नॉन-टिम्बर फॉरेस्ट प्रोडक्ट्स (एनटीएफपी) जैसे शरीफा और जामुन को इकट्ठा कर उन्हें आइसक्रीम और अन्य स्वास्थ्य वर्धक उच्च मूल्य वाले उत्पादों में बदल रहीं हैं , जिससे स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था को महत्वपूर्ण योगदान मिल रहा है।

माननीय राज्यपाल ने महिलाओं द्वारा संचालित उद्यमों को समाज के लिए एक उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण बताते हुए कहा कि उनकी यह पहल सामाजिक-आर्थिक परिवर्तन के लिए प्रेरणा का स्रोत है ।
इस दौरान उन्होंने सिक्किम की स्वयं सहायता समूह की ग्रामीण महिलाओं द्वारा निर्मित उत्पादों का भी उल्लेख किया।
जीएमपीसी का यह नवोन्मेषी दृष्टिकोण न केवल स्थिर आय के अवसर पैदा करता है बल्कि वन संरक्षण में भी योगदान दे रहा है। माननीय राज्यपाल ने सिक्किम में भी ऐसे सफल मॉडलों को अपनाने की अपील की है जिससे स्थानीय महिलाओं को सशक्त बनाने, आजीविका को बढ़ावा देने पर जोर दिया है। उन्होंने इस बात पर जोर दिया कि सरकार, निजी क्षेत्र, और गैर-सरकारी संगठनों के बीच सहयोग बढ़ाया जाए ताकि ये महिला-नेतृत्व वाले उद्यम उस मान्यता और समर्थन को प्राप्त कर सकें जिसके वे हकदार हैं।
