The Sikkim unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) celebrated National Doctor’s Day by plantation programme at Helen Lepcha Sikkim Government Medical College, Gangtok here today.
The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur graced the occasion and participated plantation programme by planting Japanese Sakura Cherry sapling at the premises of college which represents a connection between nature and well-being.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor extended his warm greetings and convey his best wishes. He said “Doctors are the true guardians of humanity, dedicating their lives to healing, serving, bringing hope to every patient and continue to safeguard the health and well-being of millions across the country.”
The Governor stated that the establishment of Helen Lepcha Sikkim Government Medical College as a historic milestone for the State and
expressed remarked that the college will not only strengthen healthcare and medical education in Sikkim but will also serve the healthcare needs of the region in the years to come.
He appreciating the IMA Sikkim unit for organising plantation drive on the occassion of Doctor’s Day and said “Tree plantation on Doctor’s Day extends far beyond symbolism, it represents a powerful prescription for planetary and human health. As we honor healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to healing, we must recognize that trees serve as nature’s doctors, providing essential health benefits to everyone.”
The programme was attended by Area MLA, Smt. Kala Rai, Advisor and Chairman, Medical Superintendent, members of the IMA, Sikkim unit, doctors from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences and other distinguished guests.
On the occassion, the Governor paid floral tributes to Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.
राष्ट्रीय डॉक्टर्स डे के अवसर पर हेलन लेप्चा चिकित्सा महाविद्यालय , गंगटोक में इंडियन मेडिकल एसोसिएशन (आई.एम.ए.),सिक्किम शाखा द्वारा एक विशेष वृक्षारोपण कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। इस कार्यक्रम में माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने गरिमामयी उपस्थिति दर्ज की और ‘जापानी सकुरा चेरी’ का पौधा रोपित किया, जो मानव स्वास्थ्य और पर्यावरण संरक्षण का प्रतीक है।
इस अवसर पर माननीय क्षेत्रीय विधायक श्रीमती कला राई, स्वास्थ्य विभाग के सलाहकार श्री अर्जुन घतानी, चेयरमैन, मेडिकल अधीक्षक, इंडियन मेडिकल एसोसिएशन (आई.एम.ए.) सिक्किम राज्य शाखा के पदाधिकारी एवं सदस्यगण, स्वास्थ्य विभाग के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, सिक्किम मनिपाल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल साइंस के प्रतिनिधि, कॉलेज के डीन, प्राध्यापकगण,डॉक्टर तथा अन्य विशिष्ट अतिथिगण उपस्थित रहे।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने अपने संबोधन में सभी को डॉक्टर डे की बधाई देते हुए कहा कि डॉक्टर समाज के सच्चे रक्षक हैं, जो मानव जीवन की रक्षा हेतु निरंतर सेवा और समर्पण का परिचय देते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि आज के दिन वृक्षारोपण अभियान स्वास्थ्य और पर्यावरण के अद्भुत संगम का प्रतीक है और यह दर्शाता है कि जैसे डॉक्टर जीवन को बचाते हैं, वैसे ही वृक्ष धरती को जीवन प्रदान करते हैं।
इस कार्यक्रम के अंतर्गत राज्यपाल महोदय ने महान चिकित्सक, समाजसेवी डॉ. बिधान चंद्र राय की प्रतिमा में पुष्पांजलि अर्पण की ।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने हेलन लेप्चा चिकित्सा महाविद्यालय की स्थापना को प्रदेश के लिए एक ऐतिहासिक उपलब्धि बताया और कहा कि यह संस्थान भविष्य में सिक्किम के स्वास्थ्य क्षेत्र की नई पहचान बनेगा।
आई.एम.ए. सिक्किम राज्य शाखा द्वारा आयोजित वृक्षारोपण अभियान की सराहना करते हुए राज्यपाल ने कहा कि यह प्रयास चिकित्सा जैसे नोबल प्रोफेशन को पर्यावरण संरक्षण से जोड़ने का एक दूरदर्शी कदम है।
कार्यक्रम के अंत में माननीय राज्यपाल ने सभी डॉक्टरों, चिकित्सा कर्मियों और विद्यार्थियों को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ दीं और आह्वान किया कि हम सभी न केवल पौधों को रोपें, बल्कि उनकी सुरक्षा और पोषण का भी संकल्प लें।
