In his dedication to environmental conservation, the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, inaugurated a large-scale tree plantation drive today by planting one lakh trees in Pali, Rajasthan. This initiative, led by Shri Shantilal Kawaad, a resident of Pali and a Mumbai-based philanthropist, under the banner of the “Mohanlal Sairchand Kawaad Charitable Trust,” was conducted as part of the central government’s scheme to develop Oxygen Parks across the country.
In his address, the Hon’ble Governor highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the Government of Sikkim for environmental conservation, such as “Mera Rukh Mera Santati,” “Mera Bato Mera Bot,” and other significant programs. He explained that through these initiatives to conserve the environment, the Sikkim government has expanded its forests and wildlife areas, fostering an awareness of environmental importance among the public. He further praised Sikkim government’s efforts and urged the Rajasthan government to adopt similar initiatives for the conservation of the environment.
Additionally, he mentioned that such initiatives are commendable in a state like Rajasthan, which experiences temperatures soaring up to 50 degrees Celsius during the summer. He added that while today’s event resulted in the planting of one lakh trees, the goal is to expand this number to seven lakh in the near future. He also expressed his appreciation for Shri Shantilal Kawaad and his family for their dedication to their homeland, even while residing in Mumbai, and for undertaking this noble cause.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Member of Parliament, Shri Madan Rathod, Rajasthan Government Cabinet Minister Shri Joraram Kumawat, Shri Sanjay Sharma, former Member of Parliament Shri Pushp Jain and other prominent public representatives and other host of dignitaries from the district.
