03.01.2025 : The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim undertook his first official visit of the year 2025 with a day-long tour with his visit to Doklam. (In English & Hindi)

The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, undertook his first official visit of the year 2025 with a day-long tour with his visit to Doklam, located at an altitude of 15,000 feet where the India-China standoff took place in 2017. He was accompanied by the Hon’ble Minister of Forest and Environment, Government of Rajasthan, Shri Sanjay Sharma.

The Hon’ble Governor’s visit began with a warm reception at 8th Mile JN Road, on the way where he was warmly welcomed and greeted by local residents of 8th Mile, as well as Panchayat and Zilla Panchayat members from Kyongnosla Gram Panchayat Unit, along with officials and staff from the Forest Department and Sikkim Police. At this location, the Hon’ble Governor, together with the Hon’ble Minister, planted an oak tree as part of an ongoing environmental initiative. He engaged in discussions with the panchayat members and local residents on regional development and environmental conservation. The Hon’ble Governor emphasized the crucial role of tree plantation in sustaining the environment

Further, upon his arrival in Doklam the Hon’ble Governor was warmly welcomed by Major General M.S. Rathore, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 17th Mountain Division and other army officials. While interacting with Army jawans and officials, Hon’ble Governor expressed gratitude for the solders’ relentless commitment to safeguard the nation. He commended the Indian Army personnel by offering words of praise for their bravery, courage, and unwavering dedication. He applauded the soldiers for their continued devotion, which has been instrumental in safeguarding the country’s security and honour.

Furthermore, the Hon’ble Governor visited Kupup, home to the world’s highest golf course, further showcasing his engagement with the region’s development and tourism potential.

While returning, the Hon’ble Governor stopped at Dichu Village, where he interacted with local residents. During this interaction, the villagers shared their concerns and needs with the Hon’ble Governor. He said that necessary help would be extended through the Raj Bhavan to address their requirements.

आज सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने अपनी आधिकारिक यात्रा के दौरान विभिन्न महत्वपूर्ण स्थलों का दौरा किया। इस क्रम में, माननीय राज्यपाल ने करीब 15,600 फीट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित डोकलाम का दौरा किया, जहाँ 2017 में भारत-चीन विवाद हुआ था। राज्यपाल महोदय ने उस स्थान का भी निरीक्षण किया और वहां की स्थिति का जायजा लिया।
डोकलाम में राज्यपाल महोदय ने भारतीय सेना के जवानों से बातचीत कर हौसला अफजाई किया। उन्होंने भारतीय सैनिकों की वीरता,साहस और समर्पण की सराहना की और कहा कि हमारे सैनिकों के समर्पण और निष्ठा ने देश की सुरक्षा और सम्मान को हमेशा बनाए रखा है।

इस दौरान राजस्थान सरकार के वन एवं पर्यावरण मंत्री, संजय शर्मा, 17th माउंटेन डिवीजन के जीओसी मेजर जनरल एम. एस. राठौर सहित कई अन्य लोगों की उपस्थिति रही।

अपनी यात्रा के दौरान, माननीय राज्यपाल ने डीचु गाँव ,जो रास्ते में पड़ता है ,वहाँ उन्होंने स्थानीय निवासियों से बातचीत की और उनके द्वारा झेली जा रही चुनौतियों और समस्याओं से अवगत हुए। राज्यपाल महोदय ने निवासियों को उनकी समस्याओं का समाधान करने के लिए हर संभव प्रयास की बात कही है।

अपनी यात्रा के दौरान माननीय राज्यपाल ने 8th माइल स्थित क्योंग्सला ग्राम पंचायत इकाई में वृक्षारोपण किया। इस दौरान उन्होंने जिला पंचायत सदस्यों एवं स्थानीय लोगों से भी बातचीत की और क्षेत्रीय विकास और पर्यावरण संरक्षण पर चर्चा की। राज्यपाल महोदय ने वृक्षारोपण के महत्व पर जोर देते हुए कहा कि यह पर्यावरण संरक्षण हमारे भविष्य के लिए अति महत्वपूर्ण है। इस दौरान, राजस्थान सरकार के वन एवं पर्यावरण मंत्री श्री संजय शर्मा भी उपस्थित रहे, जिन्होंने माननीय राज्यपाल के साथ मिलकर वृक्षारोपण अभियान में भाग लिया ।

इसी कड़ी में, आज माननीय राज्यपाल ने कुपुप स्थित विश्व के सबसे ऊंचाई वाले गोल्फ कोर्स का भी दौरा किया।
