On the auspicious occasion of Guru Rinpoche Thrunkar Tshechu, the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur has extended warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim.
The Hon’ble Governor said:
“Guru Rinpoche Thrunkar Tshechu is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava, whom we Sikkimese reverentially and fondly call Guru Rinpoche, our patron saint. Sikkim, a land truly blessed as Bayul Dremojong (the hidden valley of rice), was sanctified by Guru Rinpoche during the 8th century AD, when he transmitted Tantric Buddhism across this sacred Himalayan region adjoining Bhutan and Tibet. Since then, Sikkim has been regarded as an abode of peace, harmony, and spiritual awakening.
Guru Rinpoche, widely considered the principal associate and spiritual successor of Lord Buddha, played a pivotal role in shaping Sikkim’s cultural and religious identity, making it predominantly a Buddhist land. It is no wonder that Guru Rinpoche is revered by the people of Sikkim across all faiths and walks of life, uniting them in a shared spirit of reverence and harmony, and exemplifying Sikkim as a true land of unity in diversity.
May Guru Rinpoche continue to bless this sacred land and its people as we move forward in our collective journey towards a more enriched, compassionate, and enlightened society. On this auspicious occasion, let us come together in prayer for the well-being and spiritual upliftment of all.
Om Ah Hung Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hung.”
Blessed Guru Tsechu to all.
