04.03.2024 : Shri A.K. Singh, IPS, DGP called on the Hon’ble Governor.

Following the directive of the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Director General of Police Shri A.K. Singh called on the Hon’ble Governor at Raj Bhavan today. The DGP briefed the Hon’ble Governor on the incident of violence that occurred on the 1st of March 2024 where the former Speaker Shri K.N. Rai and others were assaulted by unidentified individuals at Melli bazaar under Melli SHO jurisdiction.

The DGP in his brief has assured the Hon’ble Governor that the proceedings of the investigation is being closely monitored by the Police Headquarters .

The Hon’ble Governor appealed for the need for peace, urging the citizens of Sikkim to have faith in the investigating agencies and the Police Department which is dedicated to the task of maintaining law and order situations in the state. Furthermore, the Hon’ble Governor has appealed to the citizens of Sikkim to continue upholding Sikkim’s image as a peaceful state of India where the rule of law prevails and all sections of society co-exist with peace and amity and uphold democratic values and contribute towards the social and economic development of the state.
