04.09.2026 : Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur interacted with a group of students and teachers from Indian School of Business (ISB) of Hyderabad and Mohali campuses at Lok Bhavan today.
Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur interacted with a group of students and teachers from Indian School of Business (ISB) of Hyderabad and Mohali campuses at Lok Bhavan today.
They are in Sikkim as a part of their educational tour to study the State’s organic farming, which was led by Professor Ashwini Chhatre, Executive Director of Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP), ISB Hyderabad and Professor Abhijit Parmar.
The Commissioner cum Secretary, Lok Bhavan, Shri Jitendra Singh Raje welcomed the visiting delegates.
During the engagement, the officials informed that students and faculty members visited various parts of the State and interacted with progressive farmers, members of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), agricultural scientists and experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and women entrepreneurs.
During the discussion, students shared their experiences and finding of their five days field visits. They praised the coordination and cooperation between the government and farmers which has played an important role in making organic farming successful at the grassroots level. And they put forth several suggestions to the Governor on modernising and strengthening the agricultural sector mainly Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven technology which has emerged as a transformative force in modern agriculture, revolutionizing traditional farming practices into smart agriculture ecosystems, real time data insights, utilizing of drone for aerial imaging to map fields, spot pests, and precisely distribute organic pesticides, promotion of organic farming and other modes to protect crops from wild animals
They commended Sikkim’s natural beauty, rich culture, women empowerment and hospitality.
The Governor lauded the observations and suggestions made by the students and described Sikkim’s organic farming is not only a model for India’s sustainable agriculture but also a model for the world. He called upon the students to act as a bridge between modern scientific methods and traditional tools of agricultural practices, so that it will boost farmers’ incomes through both agricultural production and post-production. The Governor also asked the students to write down their field visit observation and experiences and send them to Governor’s Office.
The Governor said “Sikkim is a setting example for protecting and sustainable development. I have learnt so many things from the people of Sikkim”
The mentioned that young generation of the State are performing remarkably well whatever responsibilities assigned to them.
Referring the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Governor encouraged students to harness technology, promote innovation, and develop adaptive leadership capabilities to contribute meaningfully to India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.
The session witnessed a vibrant exchange of ideas which mainly focused on the transformative role of innovation and technology in shaping modern sustainable agricultural practices and the evolving challenges and opportunities, adaptability and the ability to foster collaboration and trust between the State and farmers.
The ISB officials expressed their gratitude to Governor for granting an audience to the students.

सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर से आज राजभवन के सम्मेलन कक्ष में इंडियन स्कूल ऑफ बिजनेस (ISB) हैदराबाद और मोहाली परिसर के 40 छात्रों के प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने शिष्टाचार भेंट की।
यह छात्र समुह सिक्किम के जैविक अभियान के अध्ययन हेतु दौरे पर हैं।
बैठक की शुरुआत में राज्यपाल महोदय के सचिव श्री जितेंद्र सिंह राजे ने सभी अतिथियों और छात्रों का स्वागत किया। प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व आईएसबी हैदराबाद के भारती इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ पब्लिक पॉलिसी (BIPP) के कार्यकारी निदेशक प्रोफेसर अश्विनी छत्रे और प्रोफेसर अभिजीत परमार कर रहे हैं।
पाँच दिनों के इस गहन अध्ययन दौरे के दौरान छात्रों ने राज्य के विभिन्न हिस्सों का दौरा किया और स्थानीय किसानों, किसान उत्पादक संगठनों (FPO), कृषि वैज्ञानिकों तथा कृषि विज्ञान केंद्रों के विशेषज्ञों से सीधे संवाद किया। उन्होंने साझा किया कि सिक्किम में सरकार और किसानों के बीच का तालमेल और नेटवर्क मजबूत है, जिससे जैविक खेती को जमीनी स्तर पर उल्लेखनीय सफलता मिली है।
छात्रों ने कृषि क्षेत्र को और आधुनिक बनाने के लिए कुछ सुझाव भी दिए, जिनमें आधुनिक तकनीक का समावेश , जैविक खेती को बढ़ावा देने हेतु आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस (AI), उन्नत तकनीक और ड्रोन के उपयोग पर बल देना, जंगली जानवरों से फसलों को बचाने के लिए प्रभावी समाधान शामिल हैं।
अपने अनुभवों को साझा करते हुए दल ने सिक्किम की संस्कृति, प्राकृतिक सुंदरता और महिला सशक्तिकरण की सराहना की ।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने छात्रों के अवलोकन और सुझावों की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि सिक्किम देश ही नहीं बल्कि विश्व के लिए जैविक खेती का एक मॉडल राज्य है। उन्होंने युवाओं को आह्वान किया कि वे आधुनिक वैज्ञानिक पद्धतियों और पारंपरिक कृषि पद्धतियों के बीच सेतु का कार्य करें, जिससे किसानों की आय और उत्पादकता दोनों बढ़ सकें। साथ ही अपने अनुभवों को लिखित रूप में पेश करने पर जोर दिया।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने विशेष रूप से सिक्किम के लोगों की लगन की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा कि इस प्रदेश में जो कुछ मैंने सीखा है, वह उन लोगों से सीखा है जो भूमि पर कार्य करते हैं। और सिक्किम में मैंने एक ऐसी युवा पीढ़ी देखी है जो छोटे कार्य को भी लगन से करती है, यही वह शक्ति है जिस पर विकसित भारत का निर्माण होगा।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने छात्रों को विकसित भारत @2047 के लक्ष्य में सक्रिय योगदान देने के लिए प्रेरित किया और उज्ज्वल भविष्य की शुभकामनाएँ दीं।
आईएसबी ने माननीय राज्यपाल को उनके समय और मार्गदर्शन के लिए कृतज्ञता व्यक्त की। तथा उन किसानों और ग्राम संस्थाओं को धन्यवाद दिया जिन्होंने क्षेत्रीय अध्ययन के दौरान छात्रों की मेजबानी की।
