    05.03.2024 : Hon’ble Governor chaired 2nd board meeting of Khangchendzonga State University.

    The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, chaired the 2nd board meeting of Khangchendzonga State University at Raj Bhavan today.

    In his address, the Hon’ble Governor encouraged active student engagement across diverse domains, urging their visions to propel progress for Viksit Bharat @2047. He called upon university educators to guide and inspire students, fostering the ignition of their knowledge.

    He emphasized that education extends beyond certificate distribution; it should be a catalyst for the holistic development of students. Beyond giving certificates, Universities are encouraged to educate students to prioritize societal and national welfare, contributing to the overall development of the nation.

    Highlighting children as the cornerstone of the nation’s future, the Hon’ble Governor appealed to universities, including teachers, professors, VCs, and Raj Bhavan, to introspect on their roles.

    Moreover, he advised regular communication and meetings, drawing inspiration from the dedication of past Acharyas who traversed every corner to foster educational awareness, emphasizing the need to follow in their footsteps for the nation’s betterment.

    The Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department R. Telang, urged Khangchendzonga State University to strategize for the upcoming inauguration of its new campus at Tarku in 2025. Underscoring the scientific nature of Sanskrit, he advised the university to come up with awareness programs to attract students to the course.

    The meeting commenced with a welcome address from the Vice Chancellor of Khangchendzonga State University, providing a comprehensive overview of the institution’s operations.

    Followed by, Finance Officer Mr Rohit Kumar Pradhan presenting detailed budget information.

    Dr. J. P. Singh, member cum expert, advised on the importance of national and international publications of books and journals. He also added that inviting lecturers for talks and facilitating the exchange of ideas with educators would be beneficial.

    Present in the meeting were ACS Education Department’s Shri R Telang, Vice Chancellor of Khangchendzonga University Shri Ashish Sharma, OSD Raj Bhavan Dr Shyam Narayan, Dr Budhi Lal Subba Limboo Department KSU, Dr Lila Dhar Bhattarai from the Sanskrit Department KSU, Mrs Sangita Subba, Assistant Registrar (Admin.) KSU, Mrs. Indrani Sharma, Assistant Controller of Examination KSU, and Shri. Karma Sonam Bhutia Registrar KSU.

    Virtually present were Prof. (Dr.) J.P. Singh, Department of Panchkarma, Faculty of Ayurveda, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh and Prof. (Dr.) Sashi Prasad, Department of Anesthesiology, In-Charge and Head Paediatrics, IMS, BHU, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
