The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, called on the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, in New Delhi today.

This was the first courtesy meeting following the Hon’ble Vice President’s assumption of office. The Hon’ble Governor extended his warmest congratulations to the Hon’ble Vice President on his assumption of office and conveyed his best wishes for a successful and productive tenure in service to the nation.

During the meeting, several issues pertaining to the overall development of Sikkim were discussed. The Hon’ble Governor apprised the Hon’ble Vice President of the ongoing initiatives and priorities of the State Government aimed at promoting sustainable development, tourism, and welfare of the people of Sikkim.

A commemorative coin marking the celebration of 50 years of Sikkim’s glorious statehood in the Indian Union was also presented to the Hon’ble Vice President of India by the Hon’ble Governor.

The Hon’ble Vice President appreciated the efforts being made towards the State’s growth and assured his continued support in all endeavours contributing to the progress and prosperity of Sikkim.

सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने आज नई दिल्ली में भारत के नव नियुक्त उपराष्ट्रपति श्री सी.पी. राधाकृष्णन से शिष्टाचार भेंट की। इस अवसर पर माननीय राज्यपाल ने सिक्किम की जनता की ओर से उपराष्ट्रपति महोदय को उनके पदभार ग्रहण करने पर हार्दिक बधाई एवं शुभकामनाएं प्रेषित कीं।

भेंट के दौरान माननीय उपराष्ट्रपति एवं माननीय राज्यपाल के बीच राज्य के समग्र विकास से जुड़े विविध विषयों पर विचार-विमर्श हुआ।

इस अवसर पर सिक्किम राज्य स्थापना की स्वर्ण जयंती के उपलक्ष्य में, माननीय राज्यपाल ने एक विशेष स्मृति चिह्न माननीय उपराष्ट्रपति को भेंट किया।
