10.10.2026 : Hon’ble Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur graced the 19th Convocation of ICFAI University Sikkim at Chintan Bhawan Gangtok.
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर आज चिंतन भवन में आयोजित इकफाई विश्वविद्यालय के 19वें दीक्षांत समारोह में बतौर कुलाध्यक्ष (विज़िटर) शामिल हुए।
दीक्षांत समारोह में विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में देश के सुप्रसिद्ध चिकित्सा विशेषज्ञ, एआईजी हॉस्पिटल्स के संस्थापक व चेयरमैन और पद्म विभूषण, पद्म भूषण तथा पद्म श्री से सम्मानित डॉ. दुव्वुर नागेश्वर रेड्डी सहित विश्वविद्यालय के माननीय कुलाधिपति डॉ. ओ. आर. एस. राव और कुलपति डॉ. जगन्नाथ पटनायक भी उपस्थित रहे।
समारोह की शुरुआत एक अकादमिक शोभा यात्रा के साथ हुई, जिसके बाद माननीय राज्यपाल ने विधिवत रूप से दीक्षांत समारोह के शुभारंभ की घोषणा की।
इस दौरान विश्वविद्यालय के मेधावी छात्रों को माननीय राज्यपाल द्वारा स्वर्ण पदक तथा डिग्रियां प्रदान कर सम्मानित किया गया और उनके उज्ज्वल भविष्य की कामना की गई। इस अवसर पर समाज के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में उत्कृष्ट योगदान देने वाले विशिष्ट लोगों को’ऑनोरिस कॉसा’ (मानद उपाधि) तथा अन्य सम्मान से भी सम्मानित किया गया।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने विश्वविद्यालय के दीक्षांत समारोह के अवसर पर युवाओं को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि शिक्षा का असली उद्देश्य केवल डिग्रियां हासिल करना नहीं, बल्कि चरित्र निर्माण, बुद्धि का विकास और सामाजिक एवं व्यावहारिक जीवन में प्रवेश का उत्सव है। उन्होंने युवाओं से आह्वान किया कि वे अपने ज्ञान, कौशल और तकनीक का उपयोग समाज के अंतिम पायदान पर खड़े व्यक्ति को सशक्त बनाने तथा राष्ट्र की प्रगति के लिए करें।
उन्होंने विशेष रूप से उल्लेख किया कि आज का दौर डिजिटल क्रांति, सोशल मीडिया और आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस का है। उन्होंने युवाओं से अपील करते हुए कहा कि युवा तकनीक का उपयोग विवेकपूर्ण तरीके से करते हुए और अपनी रचनात्मक सोच के ज़रिए भारत को विकास की नई ऊंचाइयों पर ले जाएं।
स्वामी विवेकानंद जी की पंक्तियों का स्मरण कराते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि हमें ऐसी शिक्षा की आवश्यकता है जिससे मन की शक्ति बढ़े और मनुष्य स्वयं के पैरों पर खड़ा हो सके। इसके साथ ही, डॉ. ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम के विचारों को उद्धृत करते हुए उन्होंने युवाओं को बड़े सपने देखने के लिए प्रेरित किया, जो देश में बड़े आविष्कारों, नए स्टार्टअप्स और सामाजिक बदलावों को जन्म देते हैं।
माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी के ‘विकसित भारत @ 2047’ के विजन का जिक्र करते हुए राज्यपाल महोदय ने कहा कि इस संकल्प को सिद्ध करने की जिम्मेदारी ऊर्जावान युवाओं के कंधों पर है। माननीय प्रधानमंत्री के आह्वान ‘हम यह करके रहेंगे’ के संकल्प को दोहराते हुए, माननीय राज्यपाल ने युवाओं को राष्ट्र-निर्माण में उनकी सहभागिता के विषय में पूछा , जिस पर युवाओं ने उत्साह के साथ अपनी सहमति व्यक्त की।
“मुझे पूर्ण विश्वास है कि वर्ष 2047 तक भारत एक विकसित, समर्थ और आत्मनिर्भर राष्ट्र के रूप में वैश्विक पटल पर सर्वोच्च शिखर पर स्थापित होगा। इस लक्ष्य की प्राप्ति के लिए हमारी युवा शक्ति ही इसकी सच्ची मशाल वाहक है।” राज्यपाल महोदय।
महात्मा गांधी के मूलमंत्र “खुद वो बदलाव बनें, जो आप दुनिया में देखना चाहते हैं” का उल्लेख करते हुए राज्यपाल महोदय ने युवाओं को सलाह दी कि वे जीवन में सफलता की कितनी भी ऊँचाइयों को छू लें, लेकिन अपनी जड़ों, समृद्ध भारतीय संस्कृति और मानवीय मूल्यों को कभी न भूलें। उन्होंने कहा कि वास्तविक ऊँचाई वही है जहाँ पहुँचकर आप दूसरों को भी हाथ पकड़कर अपने साथ ऊपर उठा सकें।
समारोह का अंत माननीय राज्यपाल महोदय द्वारा दीक्षान्त समारोह के समापन की घोषणा के साथ हुआ।
The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur graced the 19th Convocation of ICFAI University Sikkim held today at Chintan Bhawan Gangtok.
The Governor, who is also the Visitor of the ICFAI Sikkim University was present as the chief guest and Dr. Duvvur Nageshwar Reddy, Founder and Director of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) hospital and recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardee as the guest of honour.
The Governor conferred degrees and awards as the gold and silver medals to 14 meritorious students. A total of 219 students graduated during the 19th Convocation.
Addressing the graduating students, the Governor congratulated and said ” Convocation ceremony marks a defining moment in a student’s life, the completion of one journey and the beginning of another filled with greater responsibilities towards society and nation-building.”
He urged the students to utilise their knowledge, skills and technology.
He asserted that knowledge gained through education should be used in the service of humanity.
The Governor called upon the students to make India a Vishwa Guru and the hub of innovation and knowledge once again. He further mentioned that there was a time when India was known as the Vishwa Guru adding that steps must be taken to bring back the past glory.
Highlighting the central role of youth in nation-building, the Governor reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of placing Yuva Shakti at the heart of India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat by 2047. He emphasised that Viksit Bharat was not a distant vision but a future that today’s youth will help shape.
The Governor also urged students to become masters of technology rather than its slaves, stressing the need for its responsible use amid growing concerns over the impact of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.
During the programme, Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) were awarded to former Judge of Sikkim High Court , Shri Sonam P Wangdi, Padma Shri awardees, Smt. Droupadi Ghimirey and Kedar Gurung for their contribution in different fields.
The convocation ceremony was attended by the Chancellor of ICFAI University, Dr. O. R. S. Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Board Director, governing body, faculty members, proud parents and other dignitaries.
