13.03.2026 : The Chief General Manager of State Bank of India (SBI), Kolkata Circle, Shri Neeraj Kumar Panda, along with other officials called on Governor of Sikkim at Lok Bhavan today.
The Chief General Manager of State Bank of India (SBI), Kolkata Circle, Shri Neeraj Kumar Panda, along with other officials called on Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur at Lok Bhavan today.
The officials briefed the Governor about the functioning of SBI in Sikkim, its future expansion plans and the services which are being offered to SBI’s clients. They further stated that to strengthen the banking network and improve financial services to reach the far-flung areas of the state. They informed that the SBI bank currently operates 41 branches across the state and is working to add four more branches in the near future .
During the meeting, the Governor suggested that the bank officials to explore the possibility of opening new branches in border areas particularly in Dokala and Cho La Pass, as well as in Vibrant Villages of Sikkim to facilitate banking facilities to local people. He also urged the officials to visit these areas to assess the scope for expanding banking network services.
The Chief General Manager, Shri Neeraj Kumar Panda apprised the Governor about certain technical challenges faced by the bank to strengthen banking services in the state. He stated that SBI is committed to expanding its banking services in border and far flung areas of Sikkim.
The Chief General Manager was accompanied by the Deputy General Manager of North Bengal & Sikkim, Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, Regional Manager of Sikkim, Shri Kumar Nitesh, General Manager, Shri Purba Sherpa, Deputy Manager of SLBC, Smt F. Lepcha and others.
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर से आज लोकभवन में भारतीय स्टेट बैंक (SBI) के मुख्य महाप्रबंधक, कोलकाता सर्कल, श्री नीरज कुमार पांडा एवं अन्य अधिकारियों ने शिष्टाचार भेंट की।
प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने राज्यपाल महोदय को सिक्किम में भारतीय स्टेट बैंक की वर्तमान गतिविधियों एवं विस्तार योजनाओं की जानकारी दी। उन्होंने बताया कि वर्तमान में सिक्किम में बैंक की 41 शाखाएँ संचालित हो रही हैं तथा 4 नई शाखाएँ खोलने की प्रक्रिया जारी है।
माननीय राज्यपाल महोदय ने सुझाव दिया कि बैंक की शाखाएँ सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों जैसे डोकाला, चोला पास, वाइब्रेंट विलेज तथा सार्वजनिक उपयोगिता वाले क्षेत्रों में भी खोली जाएँ। साथ ही उन्होंने बैंक अधिकारियों को इन क्षेत्रों का दौरा करने का भी आग्रह किया।
श्री नीरज कुमार पांडा ने राज्यपाल महोदय को कुछ तकनीकी चुनौतियों के बारे में अवगत कराते हुए आश्वस्त किया कि भारतीय स्टेट बैंक सिक्किम में जनसुविधा को सुदृढ़ करने हेतु हर संभव प्रयास करेगा तथा सीमावर्ती एवं ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में शाखाएँ खोलने के लिए आवश्यक कदम उठाएगा।
इस अवसर पर उप महाप्रबंधक ( नॉर्थ बंगाल एवं सिक्किम) श्री प्रशांत कुमार सिंह, क्षेत्रीय प्रबंधक (सिक्किम) श्री कुमार नितेश, मुख्य प्रबंधक (डिपॉज़िट एवं VAS) श्री फुर्बा शेर्पा तथा उप प्रबंधक (SLBC सिक्किम) श्रीमती फेरीमित लेप्चा की उपस्थिति रही ।
