On the auspicious occasion of Maghe Sankranti, the Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, has extended his warm greetings and best wishes to the people of Sikkim.

In his message, the Governor said, “The festival of Maghe/Makar Sankranti marks the arrival of spring season (Uttarayan) which symbolises reawakening of hope and progress.
This festival, which holds special significance which reflects Sikkim’s rich culture, traditions and serves as a means of preserving heritage for future generations. This festival unites various communities and it inspires us to further strengthen the values of peace, harmony, equality, and service in society. It promotes values of love, peace, generosity and togetherness among various communities.

I hope and pray that the festival bring prosperity, good health and happiness in the lives of my fellow Sikkimese.”

The Governor urged everyone to collectively preserve their culture and strengthen Sikkim’s unique cultural identity.

The Governor exhorted the youth to preserve cultural heritage, vibrant
traditions, and deeply rooted values of harmony with nature and respect for one
another. He urged them to share the unique story of Maghey/Makar Sakranti with the world.

सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने माघे संक्रांति के पावन अवसर पर राज्यवासियों को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ एवं बधाई दी हैं।

अपने संदेश में माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा कि माघे संक्रांति का पर्व सूर्य की उत्तरायण यात्रा का प्रतीक है, जो जीवन में नई ऊर्जा, आशा, समृद्धि और सकारात्मकता का संदेश लेकर आता है।
यह पर्व विभिन्न समुदायों को उनकी परंपराओं, आस्थाओं और उत्सवों के माध्यम से एकजुट करता है तथा सामाजिक सद्भाव, भाईचारे और राष्ट्रीय एकता की भावना को और सुदृढ़ बनाता है। विविधता के बावजूद हम सभी एक ही सूर्य की किरणों से आलोकित होते हैं।

इस अवसर पर माननीय राज्यपाल ने युवाओं को विशेष संदेश देते हुए कहा कि इस पर्व की प्रेरणा से युवा अपनी जड़ों से जुड़े रहें, परंपराओं को संरक्षित एवं संवर्धित करें तथा आधुनिकता के साथ संतुलन बनाते हुए समाज के हर वर्ग तक ज्ञान, सेवा और सद्भाव का प्रकाश फैलाएँ।

माननीय राज्यपाल ने कामना की है कि प्रकृति, संस्कृति और आध्यात्मिकता का यह संगम हमें सदैव प्रेरित करता रहे और यह पर्व सभी के जीवन में नई ऊर्जा, स्वास्थ्य, समृद्धि और सामाजिक सद्भाव लेकर आए।
