    In a sequence of events at Raj Bhavan Sikkim under “Hamro Sankalp: Viksit Bharat Pushpit Sikkim,” the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, alongside the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang and the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for DoNER, Shri BL Verma, initiated the auspicious foundation stone-laying ceremony for the upcoming Buddha statue at Raj Bhavan premises.
    During this ceremony, the Hon’ble Governor underscored the universal importance of Lord Buddha’s teachings and articulated the significance of having the statue grace the Raj Bhavan premises.
    Monks and pandits jointly offered prayers, seeking universal peace and smooth construction for the forthcoming statue.

    Subsequently, the Hon’ble Governor inaugurated the Sikkimese zen garden and released balloons in conjunction with “Hamro Sankalp: Viksit Bharat Pushpit Sikkim.” The ceremony was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang ,Union Minister of State for DoNER, Shri BL Verma, along with other Ministers, Head of Departments, and other dignitaries.

    The Hon’ble Governor, then embarked on a tour of the flower show accompanied by dignitaries, participated in prayers at the Raj Bhavan temple and briefly toured the library cum reading space. While visiting the bonsai exhibition, he said that the phrase “Sikkim, where nature smiles” is more than just words; it mirrors the actions of the people of Sikkim.

    The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of lamps, followed by the welcoming address delivered by Secretary Raj Bhavan, Shri J D Bhutia.

    Addressing the gathered audience , the Hon’ble Governor emphasized that, the initiative of “Hamro Sankalp: Viksit Bharat Pushpit Sikkim” graces new era towards the direction of viksit Bharat.He also highlighted that regardless of our positions, as citizens of this nation, we share a collective responsibility to contribute towards the development of Bharat by 2047.
    Highlighting the pivotal role of the youth in shaping the future, he expressed that their vision and thoughts will play a crucial role in achieving Viksit Bharat @2047. He also emphasised the need for aligning skills with education, he commended India’s resilience in overcoming the challenges posed by COVID-19 and the “vocal for local” initiative, ensuring the nation’s progress.

    The Hon’ble Governor underlined Sikkim’s unique features, being protected by the guardian deity Mount Kanchendzonga
    Further, he urged everyone to work together as a family to contribute to Viksit Bharat @2047.

    In his address, the Hon’ble Minister of State for DoNER, Shri BL Verma, expressed gratitude for being a part of the event, acknowledging the warmth and love received from the people of Sikkim. He recognised North East India as the backbone of the nation, initiating the journey towards Viksit Bharat @2047. He congratulated Sikkim for its status as the nation’s first organic state, commending the rich culture of the North East and the genuine smiles reflecting the region’s connection with nature.

    The cultural department presented various cultural performances, including a special act by the Raj Bhavan children showcasing organic farming practices.

    The Hon’ble Governor, handed over sewing machines to the Self Help Group (SHG) of Ben Phangyong.

    The Hon’ble Governor led a pledge, to the gathered audience to commit to their duties and responsibilities in contributing towards the development of Bharat by 2047.

    The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Hon’ble Governor. The master of ceremony was Mamta Awasthy, PRO to Hon’ble Governor.
