16.07.2026 : Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra celebrations at Thakurbari Mandir Gangtok here today.

The Rath Yatra celebration was organised by ShriJagannath Sanskritik Samiti.

On the occasion, the Governor offered prayers and performed traditional rituals ahead of the Rath Yatra celebrations at MG Marg here sharing in the spirit of devotion and festivity with devotees. Also performed the Chhera Pahanra ritual along with MLA of Gangtok constituency, Shri D N Barfungpa. And he participated in pulling the towering chariots, believing it brings divine blessings and spiritual merit.

The Governor said that the Rath Yatra is not merely a religious festival but a celebration of India’s cultural ethos, social unity and communal harmony. It encourages cultural exchange and reinforces the bonds of brotherhood among people.

The celebration witnessed a large number of devotees and general public.
