    20.10.2024 : Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Engages with Students and Teachers from Udaipur on Educational Tour.

    The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, granted an audience to a delegation of teachers and students from Udaipur at Raj Bhavan today. They are in Sikkim as part of their educational tour.

    During the auidence, the Hon’ble Governor warmly welcomed the students and exchanged his views on richness of Sikkim’s cultural heritage and natural beauty, highlighting its reputation for cleanliness and discipline. He emphasized the state’s unique landscape, characterized by vibrant valleys of flowers, and commended the commitment of the Sikkimese people to nation-building.

    The Hon’ble Governor highlighted Indo-China War of 1967 and paid tribute to
    Major General Sagat Singh, the brave army officer, acknowledging his bravery during the Indo-China War of 1967. He stated that although Sikkim was a protectorate of India at the time, his heroic actions remain memorable. A documentary detailing Major General Singh’s contributions is set to be produced under his guidance.

    Further, the Hon’ble Governor shared invaluable insights on the Vibrant Village Programme in Sikkim, the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’, as envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. He urged students to prioritize their education, stating that, “The students of today are the architects of tomorrow’s India. It is imperative for them to imbibe values of honesty, integrity, and dedication towards nation-building. I am confident that these bright students will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our country.”

    Moreover, The Hon’ble Governor emphasised that Sikkim is a land of wisdom and knowledge.

    Earlier, the Joint Director of Central Public School gave a quick overview of the school. Then, the female students performed the patriotic song “Dharti Sunariya,” which added to the spirit of the occasion.
