20.10.2025 : The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim reached Dokala Pass today and celebrated the festival of lights ‘Deepawali/Diwali’ with brave soldiers stationed at Dokala Pass.
The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur reached Dokala Pass today and celebrated the festival of lights ‘Deepawali/Diwali’ with brave soldiers stationed at Dokala Pass, located at an altitude of 13,400 feet on the India-China border.
Dokala Pass the trijunction between India, China and Bhutan, where the India-China standoff took place in 2017.
Addressing the army personnel, the Hon’ble Governor commended the unwavering spirit, steadfast commitment and remarkable courage of the armed forces who serve on the frontlines in difficult circumstances, terming them as a true source of inspiration to the youth. He stated that the nation will forever remain indebted to the soldiers who serve the motherland with unmatched bravery and dedication.
He mentioned that it was his desire to celebrate Deepawali with soldiers in border areas and to boost morale and encourage their “Josh”.
The Hon’ble Governor celebrated the festival by offering sweets to all rank officers and jawans.
The Hon’ble Governor expressed his happiness on the inclusion of Dokala, Nathu La and Cho La for battlefield tourism under the Ranbhoomi Darshan programme. He stated that this will not only boost Sikkim’s tourism potential but also serve as a platform to instil a sense of nationalism and pride among the youth.
Further, he urged the people especially youth to visit Dokala Pass to witness the historical significance of these areas and gain a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices made by armed forces.
“It also marks a significant milestone in fostering patriotism while enhancing the state’s tourism potential” the Hon’ble Governor said.
Besides this, the Hon’ble Governor also celebrated Deepawali/Diwali festival with soldiers at the Sherathang Helipad by offering sweets.
The programme was attended by the GOC of the Black Cat Division, Major General, M.S. Rathore, along with other officers and army personnel.
While returning from Dokala Pass, the Hon’ble Governor stopped at Dichu Village, where he interacted with local people and extended festival greetings by offering sweets.
Under the guidance of the Hon’ble Governor, the Indian Army provided electricity to Dichu village.
Additionally, the Hon’ble Governor visited Gnathang GPU, a border village falls under Vibrant Village Programme where he distributed sweets and exchanged Diwali greetings with locals.
13,400 फीट पर भारत रणभूमि दर्शन स्थल पर मनी दीपावली: माननीय राज्यपाल ने डोकाला दर्रे पर जवानों संग मनाया दीपों का पर्व
दीपावली के पावन अवसर पर सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने भारत-चीन सीमा पर 13,400 फीट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित डोकाला दर्रे पर तैनात भारतीय सेना के वीर जवानों के साथ दीपों का पर्व मनाया। इस दौरान ब्लैक कैट डिविजन के जीओसी, मेजर जनरल एम.एस. राठौर सहित भारतीय सेना के अधिकारी एवं जवान उपस्थित रहे ।
डोकाला, जो 2017 के ऐतिहासिक सैन्य मुठभेड़ का साक्षी रहा है, को हाल ही में भारत सरकार के रक्षा मंत्रालय द्वारा “रणभूमि दर्शन” के रूप में पर्यटन के लिए खोला गया है। यह स्थल भारतीय सेना के साहस, समर्पण और राष्ट्रभक्ति का प्रतीक है। राज्यपाल महोदय के आगमन ने न केवल सैनिकों के मनोबल को ऊँचाई प्रदान की है, बल्कि राष्ट्र के प्रति उनके समर्पण को भी सम्मानित किया है।
इस दौरान राज्यपाल महोदय ने सैनिकों के साथ मिठाइयाँ बाँटी, उनके साथ संवाद किया और भारत माता की जय के नारों से वातावरण को गुंजायमान किया।
इस पर्व के अवसर पर माननीय राज्यपाल ने इच्छा जताई कि इस वर्ष की दीपावली सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र में तैनात वीर सैनिकों के साथ ही मनाएँगे। उन्होंने कहा कि हमारे जवान अपने घरों से दूर देश की सुरक्षा में सीमाओं पर अडिग खड़े हैं, ताकि हम अपने घरों में चैन से दीप जलाकर पर्व मना सकें।उनका समर्पण औऱ त्याग ही हमारी दीपावली की असली ज्योति है।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने डोकाला को पर्यटन स्थल के रूप में विकसित किए जाने पर प्रसन्नता व्यक्त करते हुए आने वाले पर्यटकों और युवाओं से विशेष आग्रह किया कि वे इस स्थल की यात्रा करें। उन्होंने कहा कि डोकाला जैसे ऐतिहासिक स्थल न केवल प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य से भरपूर हैं, बल्कि राष्ट्र की रक्षा में लगे वीरों की प्रेरक गाथा भी समेटे हुए हैं। यह स्थल आने वाली पीढ़ियों के लिए शौर्य और पराक्रम का जीवंत प्रमाण बना रहेगा।
इससे पूर्व राज्यपाल महोदय ने सेरेथांग हेलिपैड पर भी जवानों के साथ दीपावली मनाई। भारत माता की जय के नारों से गूंजते इस आयोजन में सैनिकों के साथ संवाद और उत्सव का भावनात्मक संगम देखने को मिला।
इसके अलावा, रास्ते में माननीय राज्यपाल ने डिचू गाँव में स्थानीय नागरिकों को मिठाइयाँ वितरित कीं। यह वही स्थान है जहाँ हाल ही में राज्यपाल महोदय के निर्देशन और भारतीय सेना के सहयोग से बिजली की सुविधा उपलब्ध कराई गई थी।
इसके अतिरिक्त, आज राज्यपाल महोदय ने सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र में वाइब्रेंट विलेज योजना के अंतर्गत नाथांग जीपीयू का दौरा किया, जहाँ उन्होंने स्थानीय नागरिकों के साथ दीपावली की मिठाई वितरित की और शुभकामनाएं आदान-प्रदान की।
