23.01.2026 : Hon’ble Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur graced the valedictory function of 2nd All India Police Handball Cluster (AIPHC) 2025-26 Competition.
The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur graced the valedictory function of 2nd All India Police Handball Cluster (AIPHC) 2025-26 Competition today at the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Frontier Headquarters in Siliguri, West Bengal.
The 2nd AIPHC held from 19-23 January, 2026 with the theme “Lets Play Together” aiming to promote sportsmanship.
The five-day event, more than 1400 players (men, women) from 80 teams of 30 Central Armed and Different States Police Forces Organisations took part in Handball & Basketball Competitions.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor congratulated the winners and commended their sportsmanship.
He said, “The five days AIPHC event as a special and greater significance as it witnessed the participants from different parts of the state with the active participation of women personnel.”
He specifically lauded the Central Armed Forces deployed in challenging terrains noting that their involvement in sports events acts as a bridge for social harmony and national integration.
Highlighting the centre government’s commitment to nurturing a strong sporting culture, he mentioned about Khelo India programme which was envisioned by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi for transforming the youth’s engagement with sports, emphasizing that these platforms are designed to help young athletes excel and strengthen team spirit across the nation.
He presented trophies to the winners and runner up of the competition and formally announced the conclusion of the event.
In Handball (women), SSB defeating Punjab became the Champion, while Punjab became the runner-up, and BSF and Rajasthan Police jointly bagged third place. Similarly, in Men’s Handball, CISF became the champion by defeating Punjab. Punjab was runner-up, and SSB and UP Police jointly bagged third place. Mandip of CISF was declared the best player.
In women Basketball Kerala Police became champions by defeating SSB, while UP Police stood third.
In Men’s Basketball, UP Police became champions by defeating Kerala Police, and Punjab Police begged third place. Harsh Daggar of UP Police was declared the best player.
The Director General of SSB, Shri Sanjay Singhal, Special Director of IB, All India Police Board representative were also present in the concluding event.
“खेलों से राष्ट्रीय एकता और टीम भावना सुदृढ़ होती है” – माननीय राज्यपाल
आज सिलीगुड़ी के तीस्ता मैदान, सीमांत मुख्यालय में द्वितीय अखिल भारतीय पुलिस हैंडबॉल क्लस्टर 2025-26 का समापन समारोह गरिमामय वातावरण में सम्पन्न हुआ। इस अवसर पर सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहे।
समारोह का शुभारंभ देशभर से आए पुलिस बलों की प्रतिभागी टीमों द्वारा प्रस्तुत आकर्षक मार्च पास्ट से हुआ।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने प्रतियोगिता के विजेताओं को पुरस्कार प्रदान किए और अपने संबोधन में पुलिस बलों के अनुशासन, परिश्रम और खेल भावना की सराहना की। उन्होंने कहा कि यह आयोजन उनके लिए विशेष अनुभव रहा, जहाँ पूरे भारत का दर्शन हुआ और महिलाओं की सक्रिय भागीदारी ने इसे और भी सार्थक बनाया है।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने आगे कहा कि भिन्न-भिन्न भाषा और भेष के बावजूद आज के आयोजन के माध्यम से “एक भावना, एक संस्कृति” का अद्भुत उदाहरण देखने को मिला।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा कि विषम परिस्थितियों में तैनात हमारे जवान न केवल देश की सुरक्षा में लगे हैं, बल्कि खेलों के माध्यम से सामाजिक समरसता और राष्ट्रीय एकता का संदेश भी दे रहे हैं।
माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी के “खेलो इंडिया” जैसे कार्यक्रमों का उल्लेख करते हुए राज्यपाल महोदय ने कहा माननीय प्रधानमंत्री चाहते हैं कि देश का हर युवा खेल- कूद में आगे बढ़े और ऐसे आयोजन युवाओं को खेलों के प्रति प्रेरित करते हैं। ये न केवल शारीरिक दक्षता को बढ़ाते हैं बल्कि टीम भावना और राष्ट्रीय एकता को भी सुदृढ़ करते हैं।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने प्रतियोगिता के समापन की घोषणा करते हुए सभी प्रतिभागियों को उज्ज्वल भविष्य की शुभकामनाएँ दीं और सशस्त्र सीमा बल को इस उत्कृष्ट आयोजन के लिए साधुवाद दिया।
इसके उपरांत महानिदेशक एसएसबी श्री संजय सिंघल ने मुख्य अतिथि को स्मृति चिन्ह भेंट किया।
इस आयोजन को सफल बनाने वाले सभी अधिकारियों, प्रतिभागियों और आयोजकों की माननीय राज्यपाल द्वारा सराहना की गई।
इस टूर्नामेंट का शुभारम्भ 19 जनवरी 2026 को हुआ था, जिसमें देशभर से आए 30 केंद्रीय एवं राज्य पुलिस बलों की कुल 80 महिला और पुरुष टीमों ने भाग लिया।
इस अवसर पर महानिदेशक, सशस्त्र सीमा बल, श्री संजय सिंघल, विशेष निदेशक,आईबी,श्री अरविंद कुमार ,केंद्रीय पुलिस एवं राज्य पुलिस के अधिकारी, अखिल भारतीय पुलिस खेल नियंत्रण मंडल के प्रतिनिधि; प्रतिभागी खिलाड़ी एवं बड़ी संख्या में लोगों की उपस्थिति रही।
