Aligned with the vision of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat, Raj Bhavan Sikkim commemorated the foundation day of Uttar Pradesh in the gracious presence of the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya. Stressing the significance of celebrating each state’s foundation day, the Hon’ble Governor emphasized its role in uniting the nation, fostering an understanding of differences, and promoting mutual respect for national unity – a key aspect of observing such occasions.

He eloquently portrayed the nation as our mother and motherland, transcending even heaven. These celebrations, he remarked, play a crucial role in bringing the nation together, ultimately contributing to the vision of Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat.

Delving into the distinctiveness of Uttar Pradesh, he spotlighted its role as the birthplace and residence of numerous eminent personalities, including former prime ministers and freedom fighters, notably the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. From the serene Sarnath of Buddha to Raskhan’s poetic verses, Uttar Pradesh embodies a rich tapestry of heritage and culture.

In his welcome address, the Secretary of Raj Bhavan Shri Jigmee Dorji Bhutia underscored Uttar Pradesh as a state of sacred rivers and places, a source of pride for the nation with ancient landmarks that serve as unique identities of our great country.

Soul-stirring performances were delivered by the courageous SSB Jawans, Mrs. Sima Jha, and the dedicated Raj Bhavan staff. Contributing to the cultural tapestry, a second-year student from Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Science captured hearts with a poignant poetry recital.

Expressing gratitude for outstanding contributions, Mr. Diwas Gautam, Deputy Secretary of Raj Bhavan, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks. The master of ceremony, Mrs. Mamta Awasthy, Sr. PRO to the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, skillfully guided the proceedings.

A delightful lunch was extended to all attendees. The program was attended by students from various universities, professors, officers, jawans from different line departments, and officers and staff from Raj Bhavan.
