Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism called on the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, at Old Sikkim House, New Delhi today.
During the meeting, they discussed matters relating to the development and promotion of tourism in the State of Sikkim.
The Hon’ble Governor underscored the vast potential of Sikkim’s tourism sector and emphasized that strategic development which could substantially accelerate the socio-economic progress of the State.
He outlined key focus areas including Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan tourism, eco-tourism, adventure tourism, cultural tourism, rural tourism, and religious tourism as pivotal to harnessing the State’s tourism potential.

A special focus of the meeting was on exploring the possibilities of promoting cultural and heritage-based tourism in border areas under the ‘ Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan’.

आज नई दिल्ली में भारत सरकार के संस्कृति एवं पर्यटन मंत्री श्री गजेन्द्र सिंह शेखावत ने सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर से शिष्टाचार भेंट की।

इस अवसर पर सिक्किम की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विरासत, जनजातीय परंपराओं तथा प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य को लेकर सकारात्मक चर्चा हुई। साथ ही, राज्य में पर्यटन की संभावनाओं को और अधिक सुदृढ़ करने के विभिन्न पहलुओं पर भी विचार-विमर्श किया गया।

बैठक में ‘रणभूमि दर्शन’ योजना के अंतर्गत सीमावर्ती क्षेत्रों में सांस्कृतिक एवं विरासत आधारित पर्यटन को प्रोत्साहित करने की संभावनाओं पर विशेष रूप से चर्चा की गई।
