25.12.2025 : The Governor of Sikkim paid floral tribute to the statue of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee marking his 101st birth anniversary at the Atal Amrit Udyan, Sangkhola today.
The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, paid floral tribute to the statue of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee marking his 101st birth anniversary at the Atal Amrit Udyan, Sangkhola under Beng Phengyong Gram Panchayat Unit (GPU) today. The birth anniversary of former Prime Minister is observed as Good Governance Day. It may be recalled that on 29th May, the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi virtually unveiled the statue of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee installed at Atal Amrit Udyan Sangkhola under Gangtok district during the celebration of 50th years of Sikkim’s Statehood.
The Governor was accompanied by the area MLA of Martam Rumtek constituency, Shri Sonam Venchungpa.
On the occasion, the Governor recalled the contribution of Bharat Ratna and said, “Atal ji was a great politician, statesman and the tallest leader of Indian politics who always remained upright for the cause of the nation. His thoughts, ideals, and contributions continue to inspire the people of the nation even today.”
As part the programme, the Hon’ble Governor distributed blankets to the needy people of Beng-Phegyong GPU as a token of love and distributed sweets to children present in the park. He further visited the Atal Amrit Udyan Complex.
On the occasion, Panchayat members, officials from Gangtok district administration, local people were also present.
आज, सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने बेंग फेंगयोंग ग्राम पंचायत इकाई अंतर्गत अटल अमृत उद्यान परिसर, सांगखोला, सिंगताम में स्थापित श्रद्धेय भारत रत्न पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री श्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी जी की प्रतिमा पर पुष्पांजलि अर्पित कर उनकी जयंती पर श्रद्धांजलि दी।
इस अवसर पर राज्यपाल महोदय ने कहा कि अटल जी का जीवन राष्ट्रभक्ति, लोकतांत्रिक मूल्यों और जनसेवा के प्रति समर्पण का अद्वितीय उदाहरण है। उनके विचार और कृतित्व आज भी देशवासियों को प्रेरणा प्रदान करते हैं।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान माननीय राज्यपाल ने बेंग फेंगयोंग ग्राम पंचायत इकाई के जरूरतमंद नागरिकों को कंबल वितरित किए तथा उद्यान में उपस्थित छोटे बच्चों को मिठाइयाँ भी प्रदान कीं।
इस अवसर पर क्षेत्रीय विधायक श्री सोनम वेनचुंगपा, पंचायत सदस्यगण, प्रशासनिक अधिकारी, स्थानीय जनप्रतिनिधि, उद्यान के कर्मचारी तथा अनेक नागरिक उपस्थित रहे और सभी ने मिलकर अटल जी की स्मृति को नमन किया।
