On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, Sikkim Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur celebrated Raksha Bandhan with students from various schools of Siliguri.
Dainik Jagran (West Bengal & Sikkim) Siliguri today hosted Raksha Bandhan celebrations at Siliguri for the students.
As a part of the celebrations, the students tied sacred thread of Rakhi to the Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur and exchanged Raksha Bandan greetings.
During the programme, the students also presented packets of rakhi to Governor which will be sent to Indian Army
deployed along the border areas of Sikkim. Under Bharat Raksha Parv initiatives of Dainik Jagran this Rakhi will sent to forward areas through the Governor’s office to brave soldiers.
The Governor expressed his appreciation to students for their initiatives to connect soldiers and said that this is a beautiful initiative to connect young hearts with the heroes who protect us and mentioned that it strengthens the spirit of patriotism and unity in society. He congratulated and appreciated the Dainik Jagran initiatives, which has been collecting rakhis from schools and delivering them to soldiers for the past 26 years.
It was informed that this year, more than 10 lakh school students participated in the Bharat Raksha Parv campaign, through which over 8 lakh rakhis and more than 3.5 lakh greetings and wishes were sent to the soldiers.
On the occassion, Shri Rajiv Shukla, Editor In-charge, Dainik Jagran (Siliguri and Sikkim), Shri Jai Haldar, General Manager, along with the teachers and students were present.
रक्षाबंधन पर्व के एक दिन पूर्व आज सिलीगुड़ी में दैनिक जागरण (पश्चिम बंगाल एवं सिक्किम) द्वारा आयोजित एक विशेष कार्यक्रम में माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने सिलीगुड़ी के विभिन्न विद्यालयों की छात्राओं द्वारा भेंट की गई राखियों को स्वीकार किया।
इस अवसर पर छात्राओं ने राज्यपाल महोदय के कलाई पर रक्षा सूत्र बांधा। इसके साथ ही छात्राओं द्वारा भारतीय सेना के जवानों के लिए भी प्रेम और सम्मान से सजी राखियों के पैकेट राज्यपाल महोदय को भेंट किए जो राज्यपाल महोदय के माध्यम से सिक्किम के सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र में तैनात भारतीय सेना के जवान भाइयों तक पहुंचाई जाएगी।
इस अवसर पर राज्यपाल महोदय ने हर्ष व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि यह पहल सैनिकों तक अपनत्व का संदेश पहुँचाएगी।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने दैनिक जागरण द्वारा सिलीगुड़ी समेत प्रदेश और देशभर में चलाए जा रहे भारत रक्षा पर्व अभियान की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि यह कार्य समाज में देशभक्ति और एकता की भावना को और प्रगाढ़ करता है। उन्होंने दैनिक जागरण को इस सामाजिक पहल के लिए बधाई दी और कामना की कि भविष्य में भी ऐसे कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन होता रहे।
कार्यक्रम में दैनिक जागरण (सिलीगुड़ी एवं सिक्किम) के संपादकीय प्रभारी श्री राजीव शुक्ला,महा प्रबंधक श्री जय हलदर, उपस्थित शिक्षकों और छात्राओं ने माननीय राज्यपाल के प्रति अपना आभार और शुभकामनाएँ व्यक्त कीं।
भारत रक्षा पर्व दैनिक जागरण का गत 26 वर्षों से विद्यालयों से राखियाँ एकत्र कर सैनिकों तक पहुँचाने की दीर्घकालिक पहल है।
इस वर्ष 1,100 से अधिक विद्यालयों की सहभागिता रही जिसमें 8 लाख से अधिक राखियाँ और 3.5 लाख से अधिक पत्र एवं शुभकामनाएँ सैनिकों तक भेजी गईं। अभी तक इसमें 10 लाख से अधिक छात्रों ने इस अभियान में भाग लिया है।
