Goa Statehood Day was celebrated with full favor at Raj Bhavan Sikkim on 30 May, 2025 under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme. This day commemorates the day Goa became the 25th state of India in 1987. It celebrates Goa’s rich history, its liberation from Portuguese rule, and its cultural and administrative transformation into a full-fledged state. Goa was liberated from the Portuguese on 19 December 1961.
