31.07.2024 : Shri Om Prakash Mathur sworn in as 18th Governor of Sikkim.

Shri Om Prakash Mathur is formally sworn in as the Governor of Sikkim, today in a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Gangtok. The event commenced with the Chief Secretary presenting the oath form and reading the Hon’ble President’s Warrant of appointment for Shri Om Prakash Mathur.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim, Justice Biswanath Somadder, administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shri Om Prakash Mathur. The ceremony was attended by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), Cabinet Ministers, including the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, DGP, former legislators, and heads of departments. Officials from the Army and Central Government agencies and various other dignitaries were also present.

Following the swearing-in, the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, signed the solemn oath of office and was introduced to the Speaker, Cabinet Ministers, Judges of the Sikkim High Court, Deputy Speaker, MLAs, and other key figures.

A ceremonial guard of honor by the Sikkim Armed Police was also accorded to the Hon’ble Governor.

The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem. Later, the Hon’ble Governor and Hon’ble Chief Minister participated in a plantation drive at Raj Bhavan, under the “Ek Ped Maa Ki Naam” initiative, planting Rhododendron saplings to commemorate the occasion.

This marks the beginning of the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Om Prakash Mathur’s tenure as the Governor of Sikkim, and he is set to play a pivotal role in the governance and development of the state.
