    Raj Bhavan Sikkim today organized a special programme “Utkarsh Utsav” to mark the completion of one year of Hon’ble Governor Shri Om Prakash Mathur’s tenure in the State as the 18 Governor.

    On this occasion, the Hon’ble Governor attended the programme in the august presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang, the Hon’ble Chief Justice of High Court of Sikkim, Justice Shri Biswanath Somadder, Hon’ble Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Shri M.N Sherpa, former MLA, Smt Krishna Rai,

    The programme was attended by the Chief Secretary, Shri R Telang, DGP of Sikkim Police, Shri Akshay Sachdeva other officers.

    During the programme the Hon’ble Governor, the Hon’ble Chief Minister and the Hon’ble Chief Justice
    released a book titled “Jaise Mene Janna” highlighting key speeches of the Hon’ble Governor in the past year.

    On the occasion, the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri P S Tamang, Hon’ble Chief Justice Shri Biswanath Somadder, former MLA, Speaker Shri M N Sherpa, Smt. Krishna Rai, senior state government officers, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan and representatives from various sections of the society extended their greetings and best wishes to the Hon’ble Governor.

    Reflecting on his tenure, the Hon’ble Governor in his address shared that it felt as if it was only yesterday that he had taken the oath of office at Raj Bhavan as the 18th Governor of Sikkim. He expressed that serving the people of Sikkim known for their humility, hospitality, compassion, and commitment to peace has been a deeply meaningful experience.

    During the year, the Hon’ble Governor recalled his visits where he travelled extensively across the state, from Donkela Pass in the east to the vibrant Maghey Mela in Jorethang in the south, connecting with citizens and gaining a deeper understanding of their hopes, challenges, and aspirations. He drew inspiration from their sincerity and resilience.

    He described his presence in the state during many of the notable celebrations in the state which shall now be forever etched in his heart.

    The Hon’ble Governor also highlighted his visit to the border villages under the Vibrant Villages Programme, in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of transforming the last villages of India into the first in development and opportunity. He remarked that the people in these border areas are as vibrant as the initiative’s name implies.

    He further lauded the women empowerment in the State mentioning their exemplary role in all spheres—governance, education, entrepreneurship, and social service—stating that they are empowered not merely in word, but in action and spirit, serving as beacons of women’s empowerment across India.

    The Hon’ble Governor praised Sikkim’s collective commitment to cleanliness and sustainability, noting that from urban centres to remote hamlets, environmental responsibility is deeply ingrained in the social fabric of the state. This, he said, is why Sikkim is often regarded as one of the cleanest and greenest state in the country.

    He extended his sincere appreciation to the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Prem Singh Tamang, and lauded the Hon’ble Chief Minister for his unwavering commitment and dedicated service to the state.

    Further,The Hon’ble Governor underscored the forward thinking nature of the Sikkimese people and expressed confidence that their potential will play a vital role in realising the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

    Additionally, the Hon’ble Governor reiterated his admiration for the unity in diversity that defines Sikkim and affirmed his commitment to continuing his service to the state with renewed dedication and resolve. He said Sikkim has always felt like a home to him, and as the First Citizen of the state, he remains dedicated to fulfilling his responsibilities.

    Earlier in his brief address, the Hon’ble Chief Minister expressed that it is a matter of immense joy, pride, and inspiration for the people of Sikkim to mark the successful completion of one year of the Hon’ble Governor’s tenure. He remarked that this occasion was not merely an administrative milestone but a celebration of democratic values, constitutional responsibilities, and a deep-rooted tradition of public service.

    The Hon’ble Chief Minister also highlighted that over the past year, the Hon’ble Governor has discharged his duties as the Constitutional Head of the State with dignity, humility, determination, and sensitivity. He noted that the Hon’ble Governor’s leadership and consistent guidance have provided new direction to the state’s administration, thereby strengthening and energizing democratic institutions.

    He further stated that the Hon’ble Governor’s tenure has been remarkable not only from an administrative perspective but also for the compassion and dedication he has shown in serving the people of Sikkim. On behalf of the Government and the people of Sikkim, the Hon’ble Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and appreciation.

    Further, the Hon’ble Chief Minster also shared his personal sentiments, saying he felt privileged to have had the opportunity to work closely with the Hon’ble Governor. He acknowledged the Hon’ble Governor’s extensive experience, his constitutional vision, and his steadfast commitment to the welfare of the state, noting that the Hon’ble Governor has always upheld the interests of Sikkim and respected public sentiment in every decision.

    Additionally, the Hon’ble Chief Minister expressed confidence that the state would continue to benefit from the Hon’ble Governor’s valuable guidance in the future and affirmed a shared commitment to leading Sikkim toward greater development, peace, and prosperity.
