The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur extends his greetings to the Nepali speaking community worldwide on the occasion of “Nepali Bhasa Manyata Diwas.”
In his message, he said, “Today marks the historic and memorable occasion for the Nepali-speaking population worldwide. On 20th August 1992, a significant milestone was achieved in the Indian Constitution with the recognition of Nepali as a scheduled language.
This day reminds us of the struggle of millions of Indian Nepali speaking community who aspired to be true Indian in terms of culture, language and way of living. The emotional integration of Indian Nepali speaking population into the union of India is completed by the recognition of Nepali Language in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
As we remember the torch bearers and leaders who worked hard for this achievement, let us all transcend beyond the celebratory note and work collectively towards the propagation, promotion and enrichment of this Great National Language”.
