On the auspicious occasion of Indrajatra, the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur extends his warm greetings to the people of Sikkim, especially to the Pradhan community.

In his message, the Hon’ble Governor said “Indra Jatra is a traditional festival dedicated to Lord Indra, the Hindu god of rain. It is usually Celebrated in September, Indra Jatra is renowned for its vibrant cultural activities, including grand processions with decorated chariots of ‘Kumari’, traditional dances, and rituals. The festival embodies a lively atmosphere and communal spirit, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of our region. It marks the end of the monsoon and signifies the arrival of festive autumn season.

I appeal to all my fellow Sikkimese to promote mutual coexistence and brotherhood by celebrating the cultural diversity that defines the Sikkimese way of life.”
