Executive Board and General Council Meeting of Namgyal Institute of Tibetology Held at Raj Bhavan.
The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur chaired the Executive Board and General Council meeting of the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology (NIT), Deorali today at Raj Bhavan. The Hon’ble Governor, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, is also the President of the NIT Deorali.
Present at the meeting were Commissioner cum Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Jitendra Singh Raje, Secretary of Culture Department, Shri B K Lama, Secretary of Higher Education, Education Department, Shri Tsewang Gyachho, Director of NIT, Dr. Passang D. Phempu, Principal Director, Health and Family Department, Dr D.C Sharma, Principal Director, Finance Department, Shri Rajendra Sharma, Former Vice- Chancellor, CHITS, Varanasi, Prof. Geshe Ngawang Samten OSD, Higher Education, Gwalior, Prof. Anil Kumar Sharma, Additional Director, Ecclesiastical Department, Shri Tenzing Gelay, Shri Bhaichung Tshering Bhutia from Sikkim University, Ven. Khenpo Sonam Principal,Sikkim Higher Nyingma Studies), Smt. Angee Denzongpa Administrative Officer, NIT.
During the meeting, the Hon’ble Governor emphasized the importance of NIT as a significant institution. He suggested the creation of academic posts such as Assistant Professors as per the UGC guidelines to strengthen its academic framework. He further directed the Finance Committee to explore the creation of academic posts in the institution. Additionally, the Hon’ble Governor also discussed the upcoming 30-bedded Sowa Rigpa Hospital at NIT premises and further urged to make necessary appointments of the staff as required.
Earlier, Dr. Passang D. Phempu, Director of NIT, delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor for dedicating time to the meeting. He presented a detailed presentation of the institution.
The meeting discussed various agendas of the institution including upcoming activities and various decisions were also taken.
The meeting concluded with a unified commitment from the board members to work collaboratively in elevating NIT as a premier institution of the state, with aspirations to further establish it as a renowned institution on the national and global stage. This commitment marks a significant milestone in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of statehood.

माननीय राज्यपाल की अध्यक्षता में
राजभवन में आज “नामग्याल तिब्बत अध्ययन संस्थान” सिक्किम की सामान्य परिषद व कार्यकारी मंडल की बैठक संपन्न

आज राजभवन में सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर की अध्यक्षता में “नामग्याल इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ तिबेटोलॉजी (एनआईटी), सिक्किम की सामान्य परिषद व कार्यकारी मंडल की बैठक संपन्न सम्पन्न हुई। माननीय राज्यपाल, एनआईटी, देवराली के अध्यक्ष भी हैं।

इस बैठक के दौरान सर्वप्रथम एनआईटी के निदेशक डॉ. पासंग डी. फेम्पू ने स्वागत भाषण के साथ संस्थान की विस्तृत जानकारी प्रस्तुत की ।
अपनी प्रतिक्रिया में माननीय राज्यपाल ने एनआईटी के शैक्षणिक ढांचे को और मजबूत करने के लिए यूजीसी के दिशानिर्देशों के अनुरूप सहायक प्रोफेसरों पद नियुक्ति का सुझाव दिया साथ ही संस्थान की वित्त समिति को भी इस दिशा में सम्भावनाओं पर कार्य करने का निर्देश दिया। उन्होंने एनआईटी को और अधिक प्रतिष्ठित संस्थान के रूप में स्थापित करने की दिशा में कार्य करने का आग्रह किया।
इसके अलावा, माननीय राज्यपाल ने एनआईटी परिसर में निर्माणाधीन तीस बेड के सोवा रिग्पा अस्पताल के बारे में भी पूछताछ की और कार्य गति में तेजी लाने के निर्देश दिए।
आज की बैठक में संस्थान की विभिन्न गतिविधियों और आगामी योजनाओं पर चर्चा की गई और विभिन्न निर्णय लिए गए।
