On the auspicious occasion of Tendong Lho Rum Faat, the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, extends heartiest greetings to the people of Sikkim, especially to the Lepcha community.

In his greetings, the Hon’ble Governor said, “Tendong Lho Rum Faat is one of the most revered and vibrant festivals of Sikkim, celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm, particularly by the indigenous Lepcha community. The festival reflects the deep-rooted bond between the people and nature, and is centered around the worship of Mount Tendong which is regarded as sacred and protective.

According to Lepcha folklore, Mount Tendong once saved the Lepcha people from a great deluge by rising above the floodwaters, offering refuge and safety. Hence, the mountain is revered not only as a symbol of faith but also of divine protection and ecological harmony. It is referred to by the Lepchas as “Mayel Lyang” the hidden paradise or heaven.

This festival beautifully embodies the spirit of environmental reverence, cultural preservation, and spiritual resilience.

Festivals as such are a reminder of our timeless traditions and the importance of living in harmony with nature. They inspire us to value and preserve our natural heritage, woven into our cultural identity.

‘तेंदोंग-ल्हो-रूम-फात’ की शुभकामनाएँ

सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने ‘तेंदोंग-ल्हो-रूम-फात’ के पावन अवसर पर समस्त सिक्किमवासियों, विशेषकर लेप्चा समुदाय को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ प्रेषित की हैं।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने सिक्किमवासियों को प्रकृति प्रेमी बताते हुए कहा कि राज्य के लोग सदैव प्रकृति के प्रति गहन प्रेम और संरक्षण भाव रखते आए हैं। प्रकृति की उपासना न केवल सांस्कृतिक परंपरा है, बल्कि यह हमारी जीवनदायिनी प्रकृति के प्रति सम्मान का अभिनंदनीय उदाहरण भी है।
यह पर्व लेप्चा समुदाय द्वारा तेंदोंग पर्वत के प्रति श्रद्धा और सम्मान व्यक्त करने का प्रतीक है। इस दिन वे अपने विश्वास को जीवित रखते हुए, विपत्तियों और विनाश से रक्षा हेतु तेंदोंग पर्वत की आराधना करते हैं तथा विशेष अनुष्ठानों का आयोजन करते हैं।
इस अवसर पर माननीय राज्यपाल ने प्रकृति से जुड़ी आस्थाओं को हमारी अमूल्य सांस्कृतिक धरोहर बताते हुए इनके संरक्षण का आह्वान किया है ।
आइए, इस पावन पर्व पर हम सभी प्रकृति के प्रति अपनी श्रद्धा को और अधिक सुदृढ़ करें तथा सांस्कृतिक एकता और पर्यावरण संरक्षण के संकल्प के साथ आगे बढ़ें।
