26.09.2025 : Shri P.B. Chettri, President, Sikkim Vir Gurkha Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association, along with other Executive Members, called on the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim at Raj Bhavan today.
Shri P.B. Chettri, President, Sikkim Vir Gurkha Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association (SVGESWA), along with other Executive Members, called on the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, at Raj Bhavan today.
The highlight of the meeting was the Agniveer training imparted by the association to the youths of Sikkim at the SAP Camp, Pangthang. This initiative has been instrumental in motivating youth and guiding them towards a disciplined, healthy, and dedicated way of life. They mentioned that such training not only supports their personal growth but also prepares them to contribute towards nation-building.
The Hon’ble Governor enquired about how young people were responding to the Agniveer initiatives of the Centre Government and praised the work of the ex-servicemen in guiding the young generation on this. He remarked that this endeavour would not only benefit them individually but also inspire them to contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047.
Further, the Hon’ble Governor commended the association for their continued good work and assured that Raj Bhavan would always extend its support to the welfare of ex-servicemen.
On the occasion, the association also presented the Hon’ble Governor with their Annual Report and the yearly magazine Agniveer.
आज राजभवन में सिक्किम वीर गोरखा पूर्व सैनिक कल्याण संघ के अध्यक्ष श्री पी.बी. छेत्री ने कार्यकारी सदस्यों सहित सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर से शिष्टाचार भेंट की।
बैठक के दौरान संघ ने अवगत कराया कि वे सिक्किम के युवाओं को ‘सिक्किम आर्म्ड पुलिस कैंप’, पांगथांग में अग्निवीर योजना के अंतर्गत प्रशिक्षण प्रदान कर रहे हैं। यह प्रशिक्षण युवाओं को अनुशासित, स्वस्थ और समर्पित जीवन शैली अपनाने के लिए प्रेरित कर रहा है, साथ ही उन्हें भविष्य में सेना में भर्ती हेतु मानसिक और शारीरिक रूप से तैयार करने में सहायक सिद्ध हो रहा है।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने अग्निवीर योजना के प्रति युवाओं की प्रतिक्रिया के बारे में जानकारी ली और यह जानकर प्रसन्नता व्यक्त की कि युवा वर्ग इसमें निष्ठा और उत्साह के साथ भाग ले रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह प्रयास न केवल युवाओं के व्यक्तित्व निर्माण में सहायक है, बल्कि उन्हें राष्ट्र सेवा की दिशा में भी प्रेरित करता है।
राज्यपाल महोदय ने पूर्व सैनिकों द्वारा युवाओं को मार्गदर्शन देने के प्रयासों की सराहना की। इसके अतिरिक्त, संघ ने समाजहित में किए जा रहे अन्य पहलों पर भी प्रकाश डाला, विशेष रूप से ‘नशा मुक्त सिक्किम’ की दिशा में चल रहे प्रयासों की जानकारी दी। राज्यपाल ने इन जनकल्याणकारी गतिविधियों की प्रशंसा करते हुए कहा कि ऐसे प्रयास समाज में सकारात्मक परिवर्तन लाने में सहायक सिद्ध होते हैं।
इस अवसर पर संघ ने माननीय राज्यपाल को अपनी वार्षिक रिपोर्ट तथा वार्षिक पत्रिका ‘अग्निवीर’ भी भेंट की।
