Message of Hon’ble Governor on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti
The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, extends his warmest greetings on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of Shri Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi and former the Prime Minister of India, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri.
In his message, the Hon’ble Governor said,
“The life of Gandhi Ji inspires all of us to embrace the timeless ideals of Mahatma Gandhi, who dedicated his life to the pursuit of truth, non-violence, and peace. He instilled in every Indian the ideals of cleanliness as next to godliness, simplicity in living, and self-discipline, values that are not merely personal virtues but also powerful instruments of social transformation, through which our nation stands tall today.
Under the Seva Pakhwada, this day provides us a noble opportunity to put his timeless thoughts into practice. Following in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi, the people of Sikkim are moving steadfastly towards building a clean, harmonious, and compassionate society, one that truly exemplifies the sincerity, simplicity, and moral strength of Gandhiji, while also reflecting the essence of the Sikkimese way of life”.
Further, he noted that : “l pause to honour a man whose life was a profound lesson in simplicity, integrity, and selfless service, India’s Former Prime Minister, Shri Lal Bahadur Shashtri, His immortal slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan” perfectly encapsulates his vision for a strong and self-reliant India, one secured by the valor of its defense forces and nourished by the toil of its agriculturalists.
Leading the nation with quiet determination during a time of great challenge, he proved that true strength lies not in size, but in character and conviction. His humility and commitment to the common good continue to be a shining inspiration to every Indian till date.
On a day like today, when we come together to honour two great leaders of our nation, whose vision and morals continue to guide us, we are reminded that it is through their ideals that our country can march steadily towards the goal of a Viksit Bharat @2047, as envisioned by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.
On this special occasion, I urge all my fellow citizens to uphold the values embodied by these great leaders and to follow the path of truth and non-violence, dedicating ourselves to achieving universal goodwill, tolerance, and harmony”

गांधी जयंती एवं शास्त्री जयंती के अवसर पर माननीय राज्यपाल का संदेश
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी एवं भारत के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री श्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री की जयंती पर सभी नागरिकों को शुभकामनाएँ प्रेषित की हैं।
अपने संदेश में माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा , “महात्मा गांधी जी का जीवन सत्य, अहिंसा और सेवा की प्रेरणा है। उन्होंने हमें सिखाया कि स्वच्छता, सादगी और आत्मानुशासन केवल व्यक्तिगत मूल्य नहीं, बल्कि सामाजिक परिवर्तन के सशक्त साधन हैं। सेवा पखवाड़ा के अंतर्गत यह दिन हमें उनके विचारों को व्यवहार में लाने का अवसर प्रदान करता है। सिक्किमवासी गांधीजी के सिद्धांतों को अपनाकर एक स्वच्छ, समरस और संवेदनशील समाज की दिशा में अग्रसर है।
श्री लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जी का जीवन सादगी, ईमानदारी और राष्ट्रसेवा का आदर्श है। उनका नारा ‘जय जवान, जय किसान’ आज भी देश को प्रेरित करता है।
माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी का विकसित भारत @2047 का संकल्प, गांधीजी और शास्त्रीजी के विचारों की दिशा में हमारे नैतिक पथप्रदर्शक हैं।
आइए, हम सेवा, सत्य, सादगी और आत्मनिर्भरता को अपने जीवन में अपनाते हुए एक ऐसे भारत के निर्माण का संकल्प लें, जो न केवल तकनीकी और आर्थिक रूप से समृद्ध हो, बल्कि नैतिक और सामाजिक दृष्टि से भी सशक्त हो।
आइए, इन महान विभूतियों के आदर्शों को आत्मसात कर एक और अधिक उज्ज्वल, स्वच्छ और समरस भारत और सिक्किम निर्माण में सहभागी बनें।”
