15122025 : Greetings of Sikkim Governor on Chasok Tongnam

On the auspicious occasion of ‘Chasok Tongnam’ the Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur extended his best wishes to the people of Sikkim especially the Limboo Community.

In his greetings, the Governor said “Chasok Tongnam is one of the most ancient & traditional festival of the Limboo community which is being celebrated with much zeal and enthusiasm.
It marks the offering of first harvest to Limbu ancestral goddess ‘Yuma Sammang’, and other deities, thereby praying for the welfare of mankind, prosperity, abundant harvest & happiness.
This festival in Sikkim celebrates gratitude, cultural heritage, and unity by offering the first crops to deities for prosperity, fostering community bonds, and preserving traditions for future generations.”

सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर ने संपूर्ण सिक्किमवासियों, विशेषकर लिंबू समुदाय को चासोक टोंगनाम पर्व की हार्दिक शुभकामनाएँ प्रेषित की हैं।

अपने संदेश में माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा कि चासोक टोंगनाम पर्व लिंबू समुदाय का त्योहार है, जो कृषि जीवन और प्रकृति के प्रति आभार का प्रतीक है। इस पर्व में समुदाय अपनी पहली फसल को देवी-देवताओं को अर्पित करते हैं और उनसे जनकल्याण, सुख-समृद्धि तथा आने वाले वर्ष में उत्तम फसल की कामना करता है।
यह परंपरा प्रकृति के प्रति न केवल श्रद्धा और विश्वास का प्रतीक है, बल्कि हमारी सांस्कृतिक धरोहर को जीवंत बनाए रखने का माध्यम भी है।

माननीय राज्यपाल ने कहा कि ऐसे पर्व हमें अपनी जड़ों से जोड़ते हैं और हमें यह स्मरण कराते हैं कि हमारी संस्कृति और परंपरा ही हमारी असली पहचान है।
इस अवसर पर मैं सभी नागरिकों से आह्वान करता हूँ कि हम अपनी समृद्ध परंपराओं और सांस्कृतिक विरासत को संरक्षित करें तथा समाज में सांप्रदायिक सद्भावना, भाईचारे और एकता को और सुदृढ़ बनाएं।
