24.03.2026 : The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur today granted the audience to the members of Sikkim Masters Weightlifting Association (SMWA) at Lok Bhavan here.
The Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur today granted the audience to the members of Sikkim Masters Weightlifting Association (SMWA) at Lok Bhavan here. The six member executive of SMWA was led by the president, Shri Lakpa Sherpa.
The delegation apprised the Governor about the success of SMWA, winning medals at the 5th National Masters Weightlifting Championship held in Haryana recently.
During the 5th National Championship, the Sikkim team won 3 gold medals and 4 silver medals, including notable contributions from women participants.
The Governor congratulated the team on their remarkable achievement. He said that such accomplishments bring pride to the state. Expressing the confidence, the Governor said that Sikkim will continue to bring laurels to the state and the nation in the future and will serve as an inspiration for the coming generations.
The executive members expressed their gratitude to the Governor for his blessing and encouraging words and motivation.
सिक्किम के माननीय राज्यपाल श्री ओम प्रकाश माथुर से आज लोकभवन में सिक्किम मास्टर्स वेटलिफ्टिंग एसोसिएशन (SMWA) के अध्यक्ष श्री लाक्पा शेर्पा तथा छह सदस्यीय दल ने शिष्टाचार भेंट की।
प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने राज्यपाल महोदय को अवगत कराया कि उन्होंने हाल ही में 5वीं राष्ट्रीय मास्टर्स वेटलिफ्टिंग प्रतियोगिता में पहली बार सिक्किम का प्रतिनिधित्व किया, जो हरियाणा में आयोजित हुई थी। इस प्रतियोगिता में टीम ने उल्लेखनीय प्रदर्शन करते हुए 3 स्वर्ण पदक और 4 रजत पदक, जिनमें महिला प्रतिभागी भी शामिल थीं, अर्जित किए हैं।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने इस उपलब्धि पर टीम को हार्दिक बधाई दी तथा उन्हें खादा पहनाकर सम्मानित किया। राज्यपाल महोदय ने कहा कि इस प्रकार की उपलब्धियाँ सिक्किम का नाम राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर ऊँचाइयों तक ले जाती हैं और आने वाली पीढ़ियों को प्रेरणा प्रदान करती हैं।
टीम के सदस्यों ने हर्ष व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि इस सम्मान और प्रोत्साहन से उन्हें नई ऊर्जा और प्रेरणा मिली है। उन्होंने आश्वस्त किया कि वे भविष्य में और भी बेहतर प्रदर्शन कर सिक्किम को गौरवान्वित करेंगे।
माननीय राज्यपाल ने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि सिक्किम के खिलाड़ी आने वाले समय में अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर भी अपनी पहचान बनाएंगे।
